My DH wants my son to start playing T-ball. He has been playing w/ him at home and he LOVES it. Does anyone know of any local T-Ball groups for 4 year olds?

I think the YMCA on 53rd (?) offers t-ball. I'm not sure when it starts. My 5 year old really wants to play, too. My 6 year old played Spring baseball at Diamond Sports Park, but that was really too far for us. They have t-ball, too. We are definitely a baseball family

The Alachua Rec center in Alachua has a fantastic youth Tball/Baseball program. I am not sure when their start date is but you may want to check into it. It's only a 15 min drive from NW Gainesville.
My son played at the YMCA and at the Alachua Rec center. He had fun with both but the YMCA doesn't really teach the rules of the game and no scores were kept. Alachua Rec did. |

We have a 3-4 year old Hoppin Hitter T-Ball League at the YMCA. The new Southwest Sports Complex is Full, but we have a couple of spots left open at the Northwood YMCA off 34th Street. If you are interested give me a call at work tomorrw (352-338-9622) and I can answer all your questions.

As far as the Alachua Rec program goes, sjones is right, they do have a WONDERFUL program. We live is SW Gainesville and drive to Alachua 3-5 days a week for baseball, softball, football and cheerleading. Their T-ball program starts at age 4. They just finished their spring program, but I am pretty sure they do it in the fall also. We have never done fall baseball due to football, but I have heard that it is the best time for new comers to join b/c they spend a lot more time with the kids working on rules and fundamentals. I know that O2B offers T-Ball lessons also. Good Luck!!

Thank you to everyone who is helping me w/ the T-ball question! What a great resource this site is. I am not sure how I was making it w/o it!!!! I am stopping by the YMCA today to sign him up! They still have a few openings at the 34th street location. Practice started last week. They meet every Wednesday and the games are also on Wed. I spoke w/ Jaime (SP) who posted on this site. She was wonderful and informative. We are so looking forward to our first formal athletic experience!

We joined a 3-4 yr., old co-ed T-Ball team at the 34th ST YMCA. The coaches are great! My son loves it and we cannot wait to see him play in his first game next week! I think they still have some openings on some of the teams. If interested, call teh YMCA and ask for Jamie!
