We will be moving to Gainesville in July and I need to find a daycare for my 2 year old - and have just now seen you all have answered that question already so I will read previous posts! Alot of people recommend Sonshine..is that religiously affiliated? Thanks
But..I am also interested in hearing any recommendations for ballet studios for my 5 year old.

Also any other good to know stuff for moms new to the area.

I was wondering the same thing about ballet classes for my 5 year old. Also I was going to ask about any other activities in the area for summerfor that age group. Anyone has any suggestions? Like dance, karate, music, any sports, any camps.

Sonshine is religiously affiliated. It is a part of Westside Baptist Church.

As far as activities, you may want to check with O2B Kids. They have all sorts of programs for kids, including ballet, karate, etc. Does any one have any other suggestions for summer-related activities?

They also have a ballet studio at Suncountry West location and the Cameron School of Ballet.

If anyone is interested in music, I will be giving private music lessons this summer and for possibly longer. After we get settled in and I work out the details, I will let you all know. I teach middle school band and will give lessons on all woodwind and brass instruments for elementary (including kids who have never played before) through high school age. I'll keep you all updated, I'll start a post on it with my background, contact info, and details.

The membership fee fo O2B Kids is $65 + tax, it comes out to be $69.06. With this fee your child can take unlimited classes. They offer EVERYTHING!!!!

That's pretty cool. Jordy is currently in cheer leading and we pay $50/4 weeks just for one class. I will definitely have to look into it.

Yeah, I just spoke with a counselor at o2bkids and they said that it is $65 a month for one child. Children under 1 year of age are free and after 1 year if they have a sibling already enrolled the second child's membership is $39, + tax I assume. It sounds almost too good to be true. Our daughter is taking karate and we pay more than that a month for two times a week. Wow what a great deal. Of course, if you want to enroll them in other things like after school program, summer camp, daycare, etc. it's an additional charge. You can check out their schedule on their website. Soon they will post the summer schedule. They are mailing me a package with all the specifics.
