But soon we will be moving to Gainesville.
So many question going thru my head. I will start with area to live. Looking to find a home that isn't in a HOA or Subdivision. Any info I would love. I guess it would be where are they? What area do I lok in. Nothing expensive, under 325,000 and lower taxes. Schools, I have 2 kids, one in the 1st grade the second in 3rd. Both in public schools so I wouldn't mind if they continue through public schools. I guess I would need names of schools? For now these are my 2 main concerns. We will be making a trip to Gainesville soon to go and look at homes by the end of this month and wantd to have a heads up on these questions, before we talk to a agent. What else is going on in Gainesville? We will be moving from PA where we LOVE it right now, but my husband is relocating from his job, and i'm a lil bit scared to move from here to there. lol Thanks |

NW Gainesville 2..girl 7 and boy 3 |
I know there are a bunch of houses for sale in my neighborhood and the school is A rated. We bought ours for 156..so I'm sure the other houses can't be too much...if you want, you can send me a pm and I can tell where exactly it is

I guess I should have read this post first Astrid! You don't have to answer my other question now...lol. Depending on your views on living outside of town, another nice area with really good schools is Newberry. I have family there and everyone loves it because it is far enough outside Gainesville to get away from the hubub of UF but a really quick drive right into the heart of it all. And the houses out there are less $$ it seems and they are building like mad!
I hope to move to that area soon as well, so I have looked into it quite a bit. Happy to offer more info if you might be interested! |

Well, you are coming down in mid-football season so be prepared! Gator fans are quite proud of our boys and we love us some football! Also, during home games you can get into stores, restaurants and drive in most places easily - but don't go near campus when the game is over!! You will want to move away when you see that madness!! I am teasing. Gainesville is a great city and I miss it more everyday. |

My daughter is attending Talbot Elementary. We love it. Many of the parents are very involved in their child's education there. It's been A rated for several years from what I've heard.
Talbot is located in the NW area of G'ville. |

Hawthorne 3 wonderful kids! step-son (17) son (8) girl (5) |
I just transferred my kids from Hawthorne (Shell) to Hidden Oak. I am extremely happy with that decision! Hidden Oak is a great school! It is also an A rated school.
Not sure about house prices in that area since I live on the other side of the county. Hawthorne is an OK place to live, it isn't too bad, but not much here either. Very country out here. I guess it is personal preference. For schools, I would recommend living on the west side of the county. Tammy |
