Hi,

We are moving to Gainesville on June 1st, my husband will be doing fellowhip at Shands.

I have a 22 months son, I would want to enroll him in a good daycare closer to Shands. We are planning to book a apartment at Reserve at Kanapaha.

Please let me know if anybody has any experience with these apartments, are they good. Also if anybody knows of any daycare centers closer to shands, please let me know.

Thanks,

Varsha

Reviews can be a good and a bad thing. Someone loses their job, can't pay the rent and gets kicked out...they write a bad review. You have to sort of take them with a grain of salt sometimes. However the reviews do look bad for Reserve at Kanapaha on apartmentratings.com I do not know anyone personally that lives there though nor have I heard anything.

If your husband's working at Shands, does that mean you can use Baby Gator through UF? I've always heard good things, plus I think it's pretty affordable.

I know where i live, there are lots of apartments available. It is call, The Villas at Ashton Square. There is a new day care just opened no more than a 1/2-1 mile up the road on Tower Road (75th st).

The Villas is a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom and you can use your own washer/dryer. It is very roomie and nice.

The Villas is on West University Ave just off Tower Road which is between Archer Road and Newberry road. Only 5-10 minutes from UF (depends on traffic).

I agree about the reviews thing. I think that a lot of people who are annoyed about something will go and write a bad review because they are already worked up about it. You know what? I am guilty of that. But I don't usually write good reviews when I love things. (Maybe I should start doing that)

I actually heard that Baby Gator was one of the most expensive day cares. I think that maybe students get some kind of a discount, although I am not sure.

DeeBird? What school would a child attend while living at Villas at Ashton? I'm most interested in the elementary school, but wouldn't mind knowing middle school and high school as well. Thanks!

DH also works at UF and was told that Baby Gator is around or over $200 a week for an infant. I can't remember the exact amount but it was very high.

Varsha, if you want to look around the area of Reserve at Kanapapha, there are some condos in the area that have rentals available. One is The Gables, which has a nice tot lot, community center, plus a pool, tennis courts, car wash, and each one has a 1 car garage. It's a gated community with a security guard on duty at night from 10 pm to 5 am. That is right next to the Reserve.

Across the street is Hailey Forest condos. No amenities like The Gables but still nice, fairly new, and in the same area.

My friend just moved out of The Reserve at Kanapaha. She said that within the last year, the place had become really run down.
