Hello, I'm Jodi and I just moved to the area 2 months ago. I have a 4 year old daughter and a 16 month old son. We are looking for new friends and support system here in Gainesville. All of our family is out of town. My daughter would love to meet other 4 year old little girls to play with. She missed her friends back in Maryland. Are there playgroups or social events that we can come too? Please let me know what this group is all about. Thanks!

Welcome! This is a great town and a great site. There is a playgroup on Thursdays @ 11am at a local park (you can get a PM from the moderators with location if you request it). Also there are Moms Nights out the last Friday of the month (location disclosed by PM to members). There are also family field trips/picnics etc. I have 4 yr old boy....he does not think girls have coties though and a 1.5 yr old girl. Welcome!

Straight off, I havent figured out how to upload my picture yet..
 Im a mother of -3- boys. If PINK was an actual -thing-... I would hug it. LoL Zak is 5, Co0per is 2, and Oliver is 9 months today! We will be new to Gainesville on August 4th. I was wondering if anyone knew when scho0l was starting for the little ones.. We have a very excited little boy! (As parents, we are very excited to send them to a decent scho0l!!) Also.. This is my first time. When do you get them registered? Where? Who is a go0d pediatrician in the area? Dentist? Im so thankful for finding this site! Please feel free to IM me! Hi and welcome to Gainesville! This is a great place... I moved here from college then stayed for work.... and then married a local (or ACR as we lovingly call them) so I think we will be here for life. I have a 15 month old daughter and we love to meet new mommies for playtime!

Welcome, I'm a mom of two boys too. I miss pink too, but I've realized that if I squint right, blue looks kind of like purple!
I'll post this here, because there may be more moms interested: To enroll in kindergarten, children must be 5 by Sept. 1. The Zoning Office of the School Board can identify your child's school. Call their office at 955-7700. Most schools are wanting you to enroll now! Here's a story the Sun ran a couple weeks ago that lists even more info. http://www.gainesville.com/article/20080707/NEWS/896187574 As far as pediatricians and dentists, I've learned from this board that it's hard to go wrong in this town. Ask 10 moms, and you'll get 10 recommendations. It's awesome! |

Hey Dawn...here is a link to the school boards website http://www.sbac.edu/ they have a map that will show you what school you are zoned for. There are a bunch of good elementary schools. |

I had that feeling about the doctors in the area. I had all of my children at UF and after they saved both my son and I during labor.. I never had a doubt about finding someone awesome to keep my babies healthy! Ive been living in a small town for a while now, so I figured it wouldnt hurt to ask! Im about to check out these web addresses you guys gave me.. And then.. I will return.. Next mommy's night out, Im buying the drinks! |

So far...
Does he have to have his shots before I can enroll him? Also, I havent been given my address yet. I wont have it until the 4th. I know we are moving into the Laurels. Its across the street from what will be the new Kohl's. Will I need to harass the manager for my address? oOo.. Moving and scho0l is so difficult! I was just scared to death of sending him to scho0l here. Ive never been in -such- a horrible area before in my LIFE! |

I know I had to get all of my daughter's shots before she could attend. The doctor's office will have the form you need. We use Healthy Steps and LOVE them (and if we are ever in a bind w/money they totally work with us..which is a bonus). My friend is enrolling her daughter in kindergarten this year and she was saying she had to have proof of residency, like a utility bill and lease. If you call the school (it looks like you would be zoned for Idylwild) they will let you know everything you need. We use online public school, so sorry I can't be of more help.. |

I have the stuff it says I will need but I dont know what- to do about the pro0f of residency. I can pick up my lease on Friday. I dont know what to do about the second form. Im going to take him to the doctors tomorrow for his scho0l shots and physical. Ill have everything but- a second form. |

Well that's what I was thinking, but.. I havent gotten it set up yet. I would have to pay my deposit the day I got any papers from them Im sure. Thanks for the number! Im going to call them tomorrow and see who is accepting lap dances for favors! Hahahaha
