Our family has just relocated to Gainesville. I have 3 kids almost 6 (boy), almost 4(girl) and another little girl that will be 1 shortly. My son will be starting kindergarten in the fall at Glen Springs. I work out of my house and was looking for someone to come in and watch my youngest in the fall. Any ideas? Thanks, Amanda

Welcome to Gainesville! I have a 4 yr. old boy and 1.5 yr. old girl and am also zoned for Glen Springs and I work from home Smiler. I hope you find someone to come to your home to watch your kiddies Smiler. WFH is great!

Thanks for your post. My son will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. He goes to summer camp at the YMCA. I'm trying to find things for my daughter to do (4) and make friends but haven't had any luck.

Are you looking for daily child care? What are the hours? Just wondering in case I hear of someone that might fit the bill.

There's a Montessori school called Flowers Montessori on Glen Springs Road where the school is located but closer to 34th Street. It's a converted little house and when my daughter went there, it had maybe about 40 little ones from 2 to 4 years old.

She loved it. Welcome to the neighborhood.

You may want to try posting something with the university or Santa Fe. There are lots of students -- especially education/childhood majors -- who are looking for part-time work and have flexible hours.

I had heard about Flowers but it was full... but have found what I'm hopeful will be an excellent VPK in the new facility called Open Arms. I was recently able to find a college student for the summer but her hours conflict in the fall. I'm looking for some help just from like 9-12:00 M-F.
Any ideas about how to meet people around the area?

Have you tried any other VPK programs? They are held at preschools, elem schools, etc. My daughter attended VPK at the same school my son went to for 2nd grade. It was great plus it is free for 4 years olds to attend.

If you go to www.sbac.edu you should find a some information about VPK. Hopefully the site will be working, when I accessed it just now, I couldn't get in. Could be just my computer though. Wink
