Yeah I've got nothing on this one but I just had to inform you Dr. M that I will keep an eye on this post in hopes that someone will give you good ideas, that is my next feat in this whole "learning to cook" thing.

i shared a couple of these with suzy a month or so ago...

For some reason it would not let me post a comment but while I like to cook, I have NO time as you can relate. Here are a couple of throw in the crock pot around 7-730 in the morning, eat like your grandma cooked it between 5 and 6! My mom was the world’s queen of crock pot cooking!!!

BBQ sandwiches or just pulled pork with mashed potatoes.

Buy a boston butt pork roast, maybe 4 or 5 pounds, a bottle of your favorite bbq sauce and some buns (any kind will do)

Put it in the crock pot with some salt and pepper. Pour the bottle of sauce over roast, fill the bbq sauce bottle with water between 1/3 and ½ of the bottle will do. Pour over roast. Set on low, cook all day.

When you get home, take the roast out, it will probably fall apart. Shred up with fork and wa la, bbq sandwiches. Buy some of those instant mashed potatoes in the box, my favorite are the sour crème and chives. Family doesn’t know the difference. Just boil water, milk and butter. Mix up with flakes… if you want them to taste extra homemade, use pet milk instead of regular milk and add a little sour crème.

Beef tips over rice

Buy beef tips already cut up 2 or 3 pounds, two packs of powdered mushroom gravy mix, one can of beef consume and regular long grain rice.

Put the beef tips, one pack of mushroom gravy mix and consume in the crock pot, add one can of water as well. Salt and pepper. Set on low, cook all day. You can even start out with frozen meat if you forgot to thaw it, always happens to me. Who thinks of thawing out tomorrow nights meat when you haven’t even finished tonight’s dishes…

When you get home, place one cup of rice, three cups of water and some butter in a med size bowl in the microwave for 20 minutes. Perfect rice everytime. Pour out juice from crockpot into stovetop pan. Add the other gravy mix and stir until it boils. Wa la, gravy, pour back over meat. Serve meat over rice.

but the easiest one is

Meatball subs

buy frozen meatballs, probably two bags, two cans of spaghetti sauce, sub rolls. place frozen meatballs in pot with two cans of sauce on low in morning. serve on sub rolls with parmesan cheese or whatever toppings you like. son loves olives so we grab a can when making this. you can buy the little rolls in the bakery section to make it kid friendly too.

Crock Pot Recipes - Chicken Paprika

12 pieces of chicken breast strips (not entire breast)
4 medium sized potaotes, sliced (skins left on by choice)
4 medium onions, peeled and sliced
1 cup of water
3 Tablespoons oil
Paprika

Place four chicken strips in the bottom of the Crock Pot. Sprinkle
with Paprika. Then cover with a layer of potatoes. Cover the potatos
with layer of onions. Add 1 tablespoon of oil. Then sprinkle
generously with Paprika. Then start over with the four chicken strips
and follow the steps above again for three complete layers. Pour cup
of water into Crock Pot (down sides so not to wash off the Paprika).
Cook on high temperature 6-8 hours. *You can use different vegetables
if you would like. Carrot slices work well.

our very favorite is SO simple and so easy... 4 chicken breast, 2 cans of black beans, a bag of frozen corn, and a huge pile of salsa (I don't measure, just dump). Cook all day and serve with sour cream and tortilla chips, YUM!!

I also make split pea soup about 1/month (dried split peas, lots of garlic, occasionally some ham, onions and bellpeppers).

I also have a strange habit of just dumping... stuff... from my fridge and pantry. Sometimes it turns out awesome and sometimes it just doesn't work. The other day I dumped 2 bags of frozen bellpeppers, browned ground turkey, 2 cans of enchilada sauce, some onions and garlic, and it turned out SO good!

My kids LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this....I'll set it up in the morning before leaving for work...usually gone by the time I get home! I love it coz it's easy!

Slow-Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

* 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
* 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
* 2 cans cream of chicken soup
* 1 medium onion, finely chopped
* 2 tubes refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces

1. Place the chicken, butter, soup, and onion in a slow cooker. Fill with enough water just to cover.
2. Cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

ENJOY!

Hello, all! We had an energy audit done at our house last week, and the GRU auditor advised us that the most energy efficient ways to cook are the crock pot and the microwave! News to me! I never knew that...so I don't have to feel guilty for not slaving over a hot stove or oven all night! So, in the spirit of conserving energy and saving your utility bill dollars, I dug up a couple more crock pot recipes.
Here goes:

SLOW COOKER POT ROAST
INGREDIENTS
* 2 cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
* 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
* 1 1/4 cups water
* 5 1/2 pounds pot roast
DIRECTIONS
1. In a slow cooker, mix cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix and water. Place pot roast in slow cooker and coat with soup mixture.
2. Cook on High setting for 3 to 4 hours, or on Low setting for 8 to 9 hours.

SLOW COOKER PORK CHOPS
INGREDIENTS
* 2 tablespoons shortening
* 4 pork chops
* 1 egg, beaten
* 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 large onion, sliced
* 2 cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
* 2 cups milk
DIRECTIONS
1. Melt shortening in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dip pork chops in beaten egg, then dredge in flour. Cook in hot skillet, turning once to brown both sides.
2. Place pork chops into a slow cooker, and arrange sliced onions over meat. Pour soup and milk over the meat and onions.
3. Cover, and cook on High for 4 to 5 hours, or on Low for 8 to 10 hours.

Good-bye, pots and pans...hello, crock pot!
