My boys love bananas (or bamananas, as my 3-year-old calls them), so I tend to buy a lot of them. Most weeks, they're gone in a couple days. But then there are weeks like this week, when I've got three bananas just sitting there browning on my kitchen counter. They're getting to the point where it's gross to eat them, but I don't want to be wasteful. What do you do with bananas as they start to brown but are still good? Does anyone have a good recipe for banana pudding or banana bread?

I had a quest a few years ago to find the best Banana Bread recipe and found it in this one. My husband loves it. It is sooooo moist if not overcooked.

I love making banana nut bread with the recipe in the Better Homes cookbook. Do you have walnuts? It's always so good when it's warm with some butter...yum!

banana pancakes or waffles. You can find lots of recipes on the net.
Also, how about smashing them and freezing them into portions to use for later in recipes or smoothies?
I have also peeled then and froze them whole, then when I want a smoothie, I don't have to add ice, just the frozen banana. Smiler

some people may not know this, but when bananas go brown/black they are not going bad but rippening even more and it just turnes into sugar. So don't throw them away but use them as with ice cream, banana bread, pudding, etc...

someone mentioned banana bread freshly made with walnuts and slab some melted butter on it. mmmmmmmm soooooo good!!

but i also like smoothies too!

This is a slightly different direction from what Sarah asked so forgive me the detour but this brings a question to mind for me. Has anyone tried or actually use those "green bags" they advertise to keep produce fresh longer? I am curious as fruit seems to go to waste pretty fast and I hate to toss it when it costs so much but no one will eat the over-ripened stuff. I am looking for a real person to say if those bags are worth the money or not. I saw GMA report that they didn't find them to be worthwhile, but then another news show said they were the greatest - so now, REAL people, what do you think or have you tried or use them?

I'd definitely be interested in hearing about these bags as well! My hubby won't eat bananas if they are even a bit over-ripe.
