Does anyone go to this gym? We are seriously thinking about giving in and getting a membership. I used to go years ago. Just wondering what you guys think about it now. How's the day care? Classes? Does anyone have anything to share?

I went there for about six months before my youngest was born..all was well but it just wasn't doing much for us personally to keep up with it. We did much better at home with our own equipment.

The staff seemed ok and somewhat knowledgeable. The day care was pretty good (when we went) but I would of course peek in for a bit to make sure they are still pretty good. When we went they did a great job of distracting him. Heck it was only for 30-60min while the parents work out so they had it made! They have some pretty cool toys/equipment and they have different age appropriate areas (game room, movie/book area w/ huge bean bags, they don't do diapers but they will assist with them using the potty. If they need a diaper change they send someone to find you. I don't remember the snack rule but I am pretty sure they would prefer not to... otherwise all the kids would want some!

Overall I would say they were pretty good, but personally the membership wasn't worth the cost for the two of us versus what we could accomplish on our own at home. (but then again we didn't completely utilize our membership by using the pool, other classes etc...so ignore me and go for it! Given the day care is still good )

I went to the Women's Center years ago and really liked it. It was nice to just work out around a bunch of other women. The classes they offer are usually really good too...pilates, yoga and stuff.

I thought I'd reply to this thread now that my computer is not having technical difficulties anymore ;-) I work as a fitness instructor specializing in pre and post pregnancy fitness (I have 3 little ones and taught fitness before during and after my pregnancies so I went ahead and got certified!)as well as membership services at the Women's Center at GHFC in Thornebrook Village. Thank you freyja and bishop96 for your feedback because that really helps. I teach a bunch of classes for moms and I'd love to have more so we're always expanding. We just added my stroller fitness class, RollerBabies, on Mondays at 9a at the Women's Center so please feel free to join us anytime. Just tell the front desk receptionist you're there to see me so I can put you down as my guest for the day if you're not a member and that way you can just come straight to class. Also, if you ever have any questions about "maternal fitness" please feel free to send me a message :-D

I so wish I could join again...unfortunately, our money is kind of tight right now but I really did love the Women's Center if anyone is considering joining

agreed, the cost is always an issue... especially with a fluctuating schedule as far at utilizing the resources

I was a member until last month when our membership expired. We loved it. The things that stuck out for us was the tvs on the cardio machines, the hours (we went late at night and early in the morning pretty often) and the pool. We loved being able to swim year round and it was a great way to end a workout. The only reason we left was because the apartment we're moving into has a 24 fitness center and while GHFC is much better, with a new baby on the way we need any extra cash we can come by. Honestly though, I'm regretting our choice to leave.
