It's us! Last week Jack got a terrible cold and even though my MIL swears adults can't get sick from a baby we are all sick now. Even my hubby! It is really hard taking care of a sick baby when you are sick too and just want to lie in bed all day! What do you do if you just can't and you are both sick? What if you have no fam to help out? Just tough it out I guess...

What really stinks is that I really need rest and can't sleep a wink...have been up since 2:30 am and here it is 5 and I'm still on this site!
Well, I'm dosing Joey and myself with Vit C and green tea with honey and the baby seems to be getting better now. Anyone heard of Vicks rub on their feet and then socks at night to stop a cough? It seems to work.

Hope you are all feeling better soon, Mary.

My grandmother swore by Vick's Vapor Rub! And grandma was right -- not only does it work, but it's comforting. When I was little it was Vick's and socks for a cough, Vick's on your chest for congestion, and always a little swipe just under your nose to help you breathe easier (always hated that part of it!).

Take care of yourself and as soon as Jack is feeling better, let your MIL take him for a couple of hours so that you can take a nap!

Michelle told me about the Vicks on the feet....I didn't try it, but she says it works. I will try it next time.

My doc also told me that if you don't want ti or can't (due to HBP or Bfeeding or PG) take Sudafed, boil up some water and add a glop (that was the official term my doc used.) of vapor rub and inhale. It works well if you keep doing it every couple of hours.

Yep, Vicks is good for a number of maladies. I don't know why the feet thing works but I don't question things that work when I feel that bad. Mind you we are all dealing with the remnants now from Zane having the virus that gave him Croup, Macy a headcold and Daddy and I are now battling over who feels worse with upper respiratory infections and general wiped out-ness. Mind you HE took all of the DayQuil to work with him so I am left to fend for myself - THANKS DEAR!!! Roll Eyes

My little guy has a cough too, and a bit of a runny nose (kind of off and on). I think we will try the Vicks rub on his feet tonight with socks. I was also told that since the little ones shouldn't have cough medicine to take some warm water and add honey to it, and let them drink it. I think I may try that tonight too. The only suggestion is if you try this make sure to brush your toddlers teeth afterwards.

I have heard bad things about honey and little ones. I even knew a girl who gave some to her baby and he slipped into a coma. Your kids are old enough maybe but be careful!

I"ve heard the same about honey. I think the term was botulism. Its a no no for babies and little kids.
