Okay, so the deal is that I just got weighed at my doctor appointment and when she charted my weight, she told me that "You are gaining a little more than we want you to." I guess I am making up for just gaining four pounds in the first five months, huh?

I have a desk job and so it is really, really easy for the weight to kind of creep up. Before I left Gainesville a couple years ago (with no intentions of ever returning,) I gave up my gym membership to GHFC. I was paying just $21 a month! under some kind of student deal that I got.

And I was using it, too- all the time. We just went to see how much a family membership would be today. $80/month!!! And just on principal alone, I refuse to pay it.

Does anyone know of any reasonable gym deals out there. I honestly think $80/month is a bit excessive. For now, I guess I will be walking around the neighborhood when I can. Suggestions for gym memberships in Gainesville?

Hmmm, I don't know. I loved GHFC simply for their excellent childcare, that was worth the $50 a month to me (my hubby didn't go). I also recommend the trail around Haile Plantation, or Tae-Bo DVDs!

I might even spring for $50 a month, but not $80. I guess I'll be doing a lot of walking around the neighborhood. Guess that double stroller is going to come in really, really handy!

I have worked out there a few times, never was a member. They have a pretty good selection of machines, weights, etc and helpful staff.

The best deal in town, in my opinion, is Westside Baptist Church on Newberry Rd past Ft Clarke Blvd. They have a fully equipped gym in their new Family Life Center and you can get a year's membership for only $50. Family rate is $75. For more information, call the FLC at 333-7700 ext 105 or go to www.WestsideBaptist.org/recreation.
I also have lots of fitness info on my website, www.JoyfullyFit.com. I like to walk a lot and the neighborhood across from the mall, West Hills, could give you a great workout pushing kids up the rises in a stroller. Or walking while carrying a child on your shoulders. Body weight exercise. Smiler

Is anyone a member of the Y? I'm really looking forward to the southwest location opening in the coming year. I'm thinking about getting a family membership there once it opens -- then my sons can join up in T-ball and soccer and my husband and I can workout.
