I just received an email from a mom of two babies, wanting to know if I knew how to find a part-time nanny in Gainesville. Well, because of finances, my husband is having to be that nanny. But, can anyone offer any advice about nannies in our area? How and where to find them?

Hello I am new to the Gainesville moms thing but I saw this and wanted to let you know there are several places that will help you find a part time nanny. I am a mother of 2 children (7years old and 11 months) and I really cant afford the whole daycare idea. So I am at home while my husband works. I am actually trying to start a home daycare so that I can stay with the kids, avoid high daycare expenses, and still make an income to survive! I actually have volunteered in a daycare many years ago. I was a full time nanny for one family who actually moved back to India and a part time nanny for a family in which the mother decided to become a stay at home mom. Absolutely love kids!! I do know that Child Care Resources will help you find someone and The Perfect Nanny agency here in town is another place. It is a bit high on the money side but they have many nannies!! Good Luck to Everyone!!

I would put an ad in the Alligator. I worked as a full/parttime nanny when I was in college and that is how I found the job. I've had friends also find babysitters and nannies this way. It's cheaper but it also means you have to do all of the background checks and go through many interviews.

Check Craigslist--lots of students are looking for part-time nanny and babysitting jobs during the summer, such as myself! Smiler
