Well girls, I am told that I am about to pop! I've been having all those little signs that labor could be soon but you know how that goes, you think it's TODAY when it turns out to be two weeks from now. My next appointment is Thursday and I'm hoping I'll be further dilated or maybe that I won't even make it to that appointment. We'll see.

Does anyone know how the on call schedule at North Florida works? I have copy on my fridge and it lists two OB's for each day. Are they both on call the whole day? When do they switch off?

I know it doesn't really matter, when it's time I won't care who it is but I'm just a little curious.

I've been thinking about your question for awhile and was watching to see if anyone else responded. I had my daughter at NFRMC in 2005 but I just don't remember the scheduling. Dr Million was my OB and I do remember her telling me about the schedule when I was getting close to delivery and I remember that someone from the clump of offices at NFWC was always oncall on L&D. I ended up going in on Dr Millions shift so I was lucky. Try calling the L&D floor, I'm sure they could give you the basics on the shift scheduling.

Good Luck!!

Thanks a lot. I know there's always someone from the practice there, just not when they switch off.

Dr. Million has actually answered questions for me on the phone before, she seems like a great OB.

Thanks again.

Amy Million is amazing. Such a great woman. I delivered at N FL a couple weeks ago with the midwives practice and she and the other doctors in her practice are the backups in case anything goes wrong. I felt very safe. Also, the nurses there are sweet, down-to-earth, and very attentive. I went in when my contractions were 7 min apart but was only 1 cm dilated. Don't worry about not being dilated at your appt--it means nothing. I never dilated til labor time, but once I did it went fast. Even with my epidural, which I got at 4 cm, nothing slowed down--they just kept on coming and 6 hours and a nice nap later I was pushing! 45 min later I had a 9 lb 10 oz baby boy. The recovery process has been long and hard but it's getting better every day and I'm sure you won't get poison ivey and mastitis and a cold like I did...that's just my life! LOL!

My wife and I also have great things to say about Dr. Million. The second time through our labor was so short the good doctor almost missed out on the birth! But I kid, she's top notch

I've really like everyone in the practice that I've met so far. My OB is Dr. Werner and she has been wonderful and extremely supportive through out my entire pregnancy.

Hubby and I are both ready for our little one to get here.

Oh and Nate, we picked Lisa Tumarkin as our Ped after you recommended her. We had our appointment with her about a month ago and just felt very comfortable with her. Thanks so much!

sorry for the delay, this is how the call schedule works...
Each day there is one doctor and one midwife oncall 24 hours 0800-0800. The second doctor's name listed is "second-call" and only comes in if both of us are very busy.
Hope this helps.
