I think I am going to try it - breastfeeding. It has been generally an unpleasant experience because of a breast reduction surgery I had. But, I hope this time things can be different. I mean, mentally at least. And so I am trying to prepare myself. Can anyone tell me about the positive aspects of breastfeeding...bonding, etc.? I'd just like to hear about positive experiences with breastfeeding since I am trying to prepare my self emotionally for a positive one.

I am also going to meet with a lactation consultant before I give birth. I at least want to try.

While you can bond well with your children weather or not you breastfeed, there is a different kind of bond when you breastfeed. I would compare it to having a different kind of bond with each child.
Some of the things I found good about breastfeeding was that you have to sit down to feed the baby. So you do get breaks more often.
More sleep at night!! (If you co-sleep that is) It was so much easier than having to get up and fix a bottle. All I had to do was latch my baby on and fall back alseep.
You don't have to carry a larger diaper bag when you leave the house. Just put a change of clothes, some diapers and a blanket. No bottles or formula to carry! (Which also makes for less dishes to do)
After the first few weeks of getting the hang of it for you and the baby, it was so much easier than bottle feeding.
If you can be comfortable about feeding baby in public (discreetly of course) you can put the baby in a sling or carrier, feed the baby and no one will know better, unless of course it is another mom who has breastfed before. They know all the tricks Wink
This is what I can think of right now.
