Hawthorne 3 wonderful kids! step-son (17) son (8) girl (5) |
That one is hard to answer as just the question you proposed. At least for me. Can you give more information/background to the reason for the question?

NW Gainesville 3 boys (1-3 y/o and 2 -1y/o's) and a step-mom and step-grandma, too! |
Well, yep, for me it is...I'm an adoptive mother...all my kids were almost aborted by their birth mothers, all of whom changed their minds and opted for adoption instead.
Each time I got pregnant, I found out very early because we were trying to have a baby. Each pregnancy, even though the baby was no bigger than a poppyseed, that was my baby..my child, my beloved son or daughter. Each time I lost those pregnancies, I was heartbroken. I lost a child, a son or daughter. In all of the situations of my adopted children, they were "uh-oh's", "oops'", or let's just say unplanned conceptions. I find it hard to say that in the case of my wanted, purposely planned pregnancies, they were babies, but in the case of my adopted children, they were not, and therefore abortion would have been the right answer. I think when an unplanned pregnancy occurs, and the birth parents are unable or unwilling to parent the child, perhaps this is their opportunity to give something back to the world, in the form of a beautiful, life-long blessing to a childless couple. Trust me, they will be eternally grateful. Certainly, I'm not objective about this question, but now you have the two cents worth of an adoptive mother. |

While safe sex is taught, not everyone practices it. There are alot of people that do take the right precautions, but alot of them don't and pay the price.
I don't advocate abortions as a method of birth control. It's expensive and can do damage to a woman's body when too many are done. However, I do believe that the choice should be there. One of the main reasons it was legalized is because women were obtaining them through back allies by self proclaimed doctors. These women were getting seriously injured or even killed. I do think that safe sex practices and what can happen with unsafe sex should be played more in media. The repetition alone would help decrease the amount of cases. But from what I see, people, mostly, as individuals are open to talking about sex, and some, even with their children. But it seems like as a society serious safe sex talk is somewhat taboo, and there are still alot of parents that are still unsure or uncomfortable about talking safe sex with their children. Tammy |
