1 new baby boy |
Well, here I am at a week overdue (and I was sure he would be early so I feel like 3 weeks overdue). I know many of you have been here but now my husband has brought home a cold! I have a horrible cold on top of everything else like contractions at night that don't amount to anything, belly so big it's painful, and disappointment oozing out of every pore. I know I'm a whiner but dang this sucks! The baby was measured last week to be a whopping 9.6 lbs!!! I was put on the induction list for July 3rd so please if there are any praying moms out there I really don't want to be induced so we gotta have this baby by the 2nd. Thanks everyone for caring!

You poor, poor thing! My first was a week late and was 9lb 6oz. Hang in there. I really think it will happen before the 3rd! Having a big baby is nice as they are not as scary to care for, for a first time parent. Mine was wearing 3 mo. clothes when he came home and was round and fat, I was not as worried about hurting him as he was such a bruiser

Good luck to you! My sister-in-law was in much the same situation as you when she gave birth to my niece. She was actually given 2 due dates and went a month past the first one and blew by the 2nd as well. She did end up being induced and the baby was 10lbs.
Just keep looking forward to seeing your little one! |

Good luck, Mary. I'll be hoping that you go in to labor on your own ASAP. I've had it both ways, with my first, I went into labor and progressed on my own. With my second my water broke, but nothing happened so they had to start pitocin. The contractions were definitely more managable without drugs. So good for you for holding out. You're doing a great job!

I'm just curious how they are able to tell you how big your baby is? An ultrasound is only 15% effective after the first trimester. With my first, they told me my baby was already 8 lbs (at 36 weeks) and that he was going to be huge. I left the office crying that day! (I'd gained 55 lbs with him). They said they were able to determine this by measuring my belly and feeling on my belly.
I had him at 39 weeks and he turned out to be 7 lbs 8 oz. Not even close to what they were saying he was going to be! And I know it is frustrating to wait for your baby, but try to stay positive with it all. A due date is not concrete and it is normal for babies to be born anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks. So while it seems like an eternity for you, just know it is normal and okay and the baby will come!!! Trust your body that it will do what it's supposed to do at the right time. You will have this baby very soon! |

Have you tried walking around the mall? I know it sounds silly but I swear it works! When I worked at Ritz (the photo place) I had a woman come in very pregnant saying the same thing as you and I told her...go walk around for an hour or two...well her hubby came in the next day with baby pics! I worked for my mom too! When I was preggo with my daughter, they told me she was 10lb 4oz and she was pretty close...9lb 8oz....so, they can be off by at least a half a pound or so.

Hang in there! I know it's tough, but it's perfectly normal to go over on a first baby. Also, I would not consent to an induction if I were you unless there was a medically indicated reason for doing so. Inductions generally lead to other interventions, and it's just not a fun situation at all. It might make your care provider squirm, but you have every right to say "I do not consent."

I did the same thing; they actually say that foot massage can bring on labor! Also, you will enjoy having pretty toes in the hospital

I also did that the day before I had the baby, and my toes were gorgeous, what can I say?
