Two boys, ages 3 and 1 |
It's that time again, when I have to fit myself into a bathing suit and share the beach with all my friends whose bodies have not been ravaged by pregnancy and breastfeeding. Anyone else depressed about this? At least last summer I was pregnant and got to wear a maternity bathing suit -- how bad would it be if I wore that again this summer?! Ha!

I think regardless of reasons none of us truly feel 100% comfortable in a suit... I strolled out to our front yard for some kiddie pool fun in some shorts and a workout tank...dear lord i felt odd.. I might just break down and purchase a very conservative bathing suit

I hate it, too! We moved here a couple of months ago and were able to buy a house with a pool. We keep talking about having pool parties, but I'm a little freaked out about having to get in a swimsuit! lol!

It's always WAY cuter to wear a bathing suit when you are expecting than right after you've had the baby. This year, I am absolutely rebelling. I am not buying a suit. Shorts and a tank for me. And if I really want to get into the water, I'll wear my old suit. Hopefully it will suck everything in...good luck with that, right?

I think anyone who is not comfortable with their bodies is going to feel a little "paranoid" about a bathing suit I for one have not been comfortable with a bathing suit due to my weight (over). I can't stand myself in it much less, show it off to any one else.
So count me on with shorts & tshirt. i still hate that. i need to loose weight big time! |

I bought a two piece, the ones that look more like a tank top and shorts than a bathing suit. I hate how normal shirts and shorts feel weighed down when they are wet, so I found a swimsuit that is a halter top (waist length) and shorts, only made with swimsuit material.
I don't feel good in a swimsuit, but I look at it as I am proud of who I am, weight and all. And I won't always look like this.I am starting, again, to change the way I eat and live so that I can get down to a smaller size. But it doesn't happen over night. So if someone else wants to judge me based on how I look in a swimsuit, then I don't really care about it. I have just finally gotten to the point of where I am not going to let what I think others will think how I look to get in the way of me having a good time. I will just wear what I feel covers me the best, looks good and is comfortable. Tammy |

I hate buying a new suit. There's nothing worse than shopping for one. At the end of the season last year I got a good deal on a slimming one piece. Luckily it's stretched right along with me and still fits even at 7 months pregnant. I refuse to buy a suit this year that I'll only wear for a month! I figure if it gets too small at the end I'll wear jeans in the pool if I have to! And I'm also praying to finish the season in it after Max is born in August. I just figure that even if I am smaller for the end of the season I hope to be even smaller next season and what's the point of buying a new suit now, right after he's born and then again next summer?
Here's hoping! -Amy |

Ladies, don't fret. I'm a fitness trainer, and although it's possible for most everybody to attain a their personal best body...it's more important to be healthy. I love being a Mom and am grateful my body was able to make such fantastic kids. Do you have an Sports Illustrated photo shoots coming up? Probably not. So if you want to be fitter, make efforts to do so. Don't give up any happy moments at the beach or pool worrying about your butt though. Suck in all the fun. Life is too short!

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The only way to shop for a bathing suit is after a few rum and cokes.

Count me in as someone who hates putting on the 'ole suit. I have tummy issues so I'm always trying to hide that region of my body. I broke down and bought the skirt edition. This is fine when I'm not wet, but coming up out of the water, a suction action occurs and the skirts vacuums in towards my crotch. It's quite attractive.
The other grand thing to happen is for the skirt to flare out as I enter the water therefor transforming me into an Aqua Ballerina. I probably should find a new style. This message has been edited. Last edited by: disney_magic, Genna |

I love this subject. we can all relate. Hi Fitz, it's Amy C. from playgroup. I agree don't fret, eat healthy, be healthy and enjoy the water with your kids. I might add there are alot of bathing suits that are flattering for many figures. I like the halter tops to pull everything together. There are also cute wraps and terry gouchos out there to keep you a little covered out of the water. It just takes a little creativity. I will also add that a planned pool party is motivating to get into shape. At least for me.

I will also add that Fitz, our personal trainer has seen me in a suit before, during and after two pregnancies. If I can face her in a suit in those conditions then you guys can put on a suit too. Love you Fitz.
