Has anyone ever rented one of those super cabins up in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Tennessee? We are going to give it a try this January or February so the kids can spend a week playing in the snow. We are looking to be around Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. They look great online...full kitchens, washer/dryers, outdoor hotubs, big fireplaces and really pretty online. I just don't want to rent one only to get up there and find it is all dirty or a different cabin all together. So if anyone has had any experiences...good or bad I would love to hear about them.

Thanks!
Karen

Karen I have visited the area but never stayed up that area. But know others who have and have really enjoyed their stay.

I would suggest the Gatlinburg area too. We always had a blast when we go to visit. (I use to live there so we never had to stay overnight).

I think you should experience it- just go have fun! And stay warm! Wink

It seems like a lifetime ago, but once upon a time I rented a cabin up in the northern corner of Georgia. It was one of the all-around best times I've ever had. I'd go again in a heartbeat. Go for it!

We rented a cabin up near Pigeon Forge but across the state park in Townsend, TN. It was so great, big cabin with a fireplace and hot tub. I would highly recommend it!!

Thanks guys!!

My family is very excited about taking this trip...it was between a week at Disney or a week in the mountains and the kids actually picked the mountains. We did a week at Disney last year and we will do a week next year so they picked the mountains with the knowledge of the Disney vacation next time..but still they are excited about it!

My 15 year old said now the day after Christmas won't be so sad because now she has a trip to look forward to Smiler

So now I am even more encouraged!

And Nate about Georgia...my sister used to live in Lawrenceville...just a little north east of Atlanta and about an hour from Stone Mountain...it's a very beautiful area. Ga was our first choice to go find a cabin..but then we decided we wanted bigger mountains and a better chance for snow!!

Thanks again...anyone else????

Karen

I'm not overly familiar with the area you're heading to, but if you (or anyone else) are looking for a neat spot to vacation, check out the blue ridge parkway - a little area called Meadows of Dan. There are some neat towns around there and gorgeous scenery! It's a great summer place too, because there is so much to do outdoors! We used to vacation up there when a family member had a place. It was awesome!

My family used to go to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge at least once a year when I was growing up. Every few years we'd take one of those tours where they show you the cabins in Gatlinburg, and although we've never had the experience of staing in one, we almost did, because they were absolutely gorgeous. In 2003, we staying in a hotel in Pigeon Forge, and the weather forecat was supposed to be in the 60's and clear all week. The morning we woke up to head home, we woke up to it snowing outside! We actually got stuck in the snow in the mountains on our way home, and almost slid off the side! We had to turn around, and when we got back to Gatlinburg, they were just closing the road...Crazy and Scary, but quite an experience!I hope you guys have a great time there, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Oh, now all of you have got me thinking...and remembering....my parents are from Tennessee, but I haven't been there in years. I used to live in NE Ga., and while I missed home here in FL, I did love the Fall, the changing leaves, the scenery in the mountains up there. All the heat here in the Florida summer, and now this post, have got me thinking about a cool, not cold, but cool spot in the mountains....ah, yes!
