We lived in Palm Harbor for 5 years, which is just a few miles north of Clearwater. We used to always go to Fred Howard Park-you can look it up online. It is great! You drive out to a little island and are on the beach. There is also a park area for the kids and nature trails. There is also Honeymoon island which is another place we loved to go. Have a great time, let me know how you liked it!

I went to Clearwater for a conference I had for my job, and it was held in a hotel right on the beach. That was the first time my daughter had went to the beach. We loved it-the sand and water were nice. I have also been to Honeymoon island, as LEW was talking about. It's really nice as well.

Never been. Definitely let us know how it was and what all was there for the kiddies. We're getting kind of tired of St. Augustine/Crescent Beach. It's nice, but we need some new scenery!

we went this time last year and were very disappointed. the beach itself (sand) was ok but the water was mucky. lots of seaweed and junk in the water. so much infact that we couldnt even get in the water and we were there for 3 days. i would not recommend it as of last year. but thats just us. we're not big fans of the gulf side at this point. too much yuck in the water. i prefer st. augustine. im familiar with it at this point. new smyrna we've heard is nice and we'll be working on getting to some different beaches in the up coming years.

We lived in Clearwater for 4 years. We liked places like Honeymoon Island and Fort DeSoto beach much better than Clearwater Beach, mostly because they are less commercial and there's a lot more nature. But if you like the commercialism, Clearwater Beach is great. There's a lot to do there, a pirate ship cruise, a yacht dinner cruise, dolphin encounters, parasailing, there's tiki bars, a giant jumper swing thingy (don't know what it's called), and a lot more. And definitely check out "Sunsets at Pier 60", every night in the summer 1 hour before sunset until 1 hour after there are vendors, music, and entertainment (like dancers, fire eaters, etc) at the pier. We liked to go to that. Hope you have a great time!
