Three beautiful healthy kids: boy 12, boy 10, girl 5 |
I'm a certified teacher living in Gainesville since last Fall and still without a job...my application is up-to-date in the sbac.edu web page but I only have been called for interview once from like 30 applications submitted...why it is so hard to get into the system?...I know there is no "router" for teachers, neither a "waiting list" but I don't want to leave Gainesville in order to catch a teacher job... Anyone knows how the system works in this area?

I think the problem is due to the budget deficits as a a result of the property tax iniatives. Our music and art programs have been reduced to half a year. So the music and art teachers get first dibs on any openings which I believe the paper said wouldn't leave any vacancies if they all accepted.

There have been quite a few cuts. Have you tried any of the outlying counties ... Levy? Marion?
