Mayo Baby boy, due June 14! |
Having my first baby at age 26 and am sooooooooo excited!!! I am supposedly due on June 22 but everyone keeps telling me due dates mean nothing...especially with the first one. That reallys scares me--I think it may be a control issue but I really wish I could know when, where, and how I am going to suddenly begin the intense process of laboring.

They are right, due dates mean nothing! My daughter was finally born 8 days late because the doctor said I couldn't wait anymore. It will be alright though, just remember to soak your feet! |

Due dates really aren't reliable. I had my first baby last July, and she was 10 days late. I was just positive that my baby would be born on her due date and when she wasn't, I was soooo depressed. I actually cried (I blame that on hormones and the fact that it was the middle of summer and there was so much of me to feel hot). Don't fixate on the date and stay positive. Most doctors won't let you go more than two weeks past your due date. Good luck!

Jutho-
I had the same experience. My last baby was due June 27, and born July 7. That was a whole two weeks of waiting, waiting, waiting. It was torturous. I think I learned not to fixate on a due date. It made me crazy, and you are right, hormones don't make it any easier. |

Hawthorne 3 wonderful kids! step-son (17) son (8) girl (5) |
I have to echo that due dates mean nothing. Both my babies were born early. My first on July 7, 3 weeks early and my 2nd was 10 days early on April 11.
Just put in your mind that you are due at the end of june to the first of july time frame. It is also easier to tell everyone that also. People get fixated on dates and as you approach yours people will start asking all the time, have you had the baby yet? It will drive you crazy! Tammy |

I have a new doctor with this pregnancy and he won't even give a specific due date. He says I'm due somewhere between June 30 to July 4th. I went into labor with my last one a week early - actually, the very early morning of my scheduled C-Section. So I agree, due dates are not reliable!

I don't think they are reliable when they consider your LMP. But, what about when they measure your baby through the sonogram? I always thought that was the sure-fire way of knowing your due date...

1 baby boy August 2008 |
I think my due date has changed at almost every appointment! The last time I went they said he was about 3 days small but they weren't going to change the date again!
I'm also pregnant with my first. We're due August 14th. -Amy |

My son (now 7) was born a whole month early because my doctor said he was too big to wait another month. Born at 8 lbs. 1 oz. My daughter on the other hand was 4 days later than my due date which actually was given to me from sonogram results. I think due dates are estimates..yet only baby and the man himself knows when they are truly ready!!! Hang in there you will definitely know when its time!!

I was 5 days overdue when I went into labor, but after K was born they thought she was more than 5 days late by looking at her and at the cord. I remember being soooooo depressed when the day came and went without a baby in my arms. And I was ready to kill my hubby when he asked me literally, 5 times a day if "today was the day" I was always told that happy, healthy babies are late babies so don't worry to much about the date... like CMKRAMER said, you will definately know when it is time!

Both of mine were early...I ended up with c-sections with both...the first one was scheduled the day before we did it...my daughter was born at 37 weeks and was 9lbs 8oz and my son was scheduled when I was 28 weeks, he was born at 38 weeks and was 8lbs 15oz...guess I just have big kiddos..which is funny since I'm only like 5'3...haha

Mine got later and later. No more for me. I can't possible stand a 10-month pregnancy, although they are 40 weeks, right? Not 36. Not mine. Not ever.

LOL! It just funny to hear how you all complain about this....lol. Its just strange how the baby decides to come when they are ready.
I was told Tim would be born on Easter then on April 3rd. So I knew anytime that week he would show up. If he had been on easter, I would had named him Joshua Michael. Because Joshua means God of Salvation. But then Easter came and went. It was April 1 (April fools day!) and of course I played the april fools joke on my friends....A big mistake! because the next day while visiting my cousin on an Army base, at a Pizza Hut with my sister and dad, my water broke and by early the next morning, he was born on his due date (April 3). Bright and early. I guess the pizza did it! you just never know...those little rugrats will come when they are good and ready. Like you, I don't think there is a real "due date"...its just an estimate date. Hey...at least you knew you were pregnant and ready to have a baby. there is a new show on Discovery Health that there were many mom's who didn't even know they were pregnant!! And Suprise!!!!! |
