I wasn't sure where to post this but here goes. The Levy County Fair is in October and they are having a kareoke contest. The winner gets $500.00 with second and third place also getting cash prizes. They started the auditions yesterday and they will be having 3 more within in the next month. They only choose 5 people from each audition so they will end up with 20 for the actual contest. I went with my friend from church that I sing with and we both auditioned seperatly and we BOTH got picked to be in the top 5 and compete at the fair. It is so silly because we both did it on a whim and now we are both going to be singing at the fair!! I've never been much of a fair goer but I guess I will be there this year. Auditions are open to all...kids too so if any of you have kids that can sing this would be a great place to get them some experience singing in front of a crowd. If you want more info send me a pm.

Are there age categories or does everyone compete for 1 prize? Sounds fun and nerve-wracking! I used to sing in a group at competitions and I would get sick with nerves if I had a solo! I salute your bravery!

They said at the audition that if they had a good amount of kids they may consider making two categories, one for adults and one for kids. I guess with only 20 in the contest a good amount of kids would be 5 or 6. There are no categories for the auditions, minors just need to have a parent there to audition...there is a $10.00 fee to audition.

PS It was nerve wracking....I sing all the time at church but to get up there in front of four judges made me feel queasy...I was shaking like a leaf!!

unless I'm drunk, you'll never see me behind a mic singing.

This sounds exciting and I hope you and your friend wins. You have a beautiful voice!!

Wishing you good luck...& blessings!

Thanks Dee...I have about a month now to pick out two good songs to sing. We will also be participating in a 'gospel sing' they are having at the fair...so I will be busy on fair days this year!!

Good for you! I wish I could sing. My voice is so bad, I do not even sing in the shower Smiler. We may try to come out and see you!

All are welcome...the contest is on Saturday, November 1st at 11:00am at the Levy County Fairgrounds in Williston.

(I need as many hoots and hollers as I can get!)

Well Just remind us of the date and time when it comes to that time and count me as being there to give you all the hoots and hollers! I'm sure there will be others here who would like to share that excitment too.

Trust me ladies, Karen can sing! It puts my voice or singing to pure shame. But it will be one thing you will for sure enjoy! Can't wait!
