Citizens for Good Public Policy

Everyone please attend this important Gathering every monday night.

Please don't think your presence is not necessary.

We have just 35 days left to gather 8,000 Petitions in order to get this Amendment on the ballot for a vote.

It will take all of us to accomplish this huge task.

Monday evening, 7:00 - 8:00 PM

The Vineyard Church Auditorium

NW 8th Avenue - 1 block west of 34th Street

Next to Littlewood School

Our City Commissioners have passed the Gender Identity Disorder Ordinance which allows men to enter public women's restrooms - getting this on the ballot will allow the residents of Gainesville to overturn this dangerous Ordinance.

263 registered sexual offenders/predators live in our City, over 300 in our County, mostly transients - They can use this poorly written ordinance, meant to protect a few Gender Identity Disorder persons, for the exploitation of defenseless women and children.

Please come out & hear how you can help!

Much help is needed!

Any questions? Call Cain Davis at 871-4555

If you would like to sign the petition go to www.citizensforgoodpublicpolicy.org and print up the petition. You can either mail it in or bring it to the Monday night meeting at the Vineyard.

The pettions are needed to bring this to a vote and let the people have a voice in November.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this ordinance. How do you feel about it, and are you doing anything for or against it?

I'm a little confused...I read through the ordinance and I can't find in there where it says that people with "gender identity issues" can use whichever restroom they want. I see where it talks about places of employment providing them separate facilities or making accommodations, but nothing about public restrooms and such....can you tell where this information is located in the ordinance?

IF YOU GO THE LInK THAT IS ABOVE; IT WILL DIRECT YOU TO THE SITE. IN THE SITE IMMEDIATELY STARTS SAYING "On January 28th, 2008 the Gainesville City Commission passed a Gender Identity Ordinance...." WHERE IT SAYS GENDER IDENTITY ORDINANCE CLICK ON IT AND IT WILL TAKE TO THE ORDINANCE IT'S # AND EVERYTHING.

WE HAVE TO STOP THIS. IT'S SERIOUS PEOPLE. SOME PEOPLE WILL START TAKING THIS LAW TO THEIR ADVANTAGE AND WE NEED TO STOP IT.

I did. I downloaded the entire ordinance and read through it...After reading through it, I didn't see where it had said anything about public restrooms (or public anything really, just workplace discrimination), so I was asking if you could tell which part it is in, so I could re-read it.

This is a very heated issue in town that people are obviously passionate about. But let's remember to be respectful. We're all just trying to be as informed as possible.

I totally agree Sarah Smiler
Also, I emailed the City Commission to get some clarification of the ordinance.... I specifically asked if this ordinance would allow men to use women's restrooms and vice versa. If so, then that is totally unacceptable. I will let everyone know when I get a response.

Bishop,
Thanks so much for doing that. It should clear up some confusion. Please let us know what you find out.

I hear that there is a BIG petition going around about this. Has anyone signed it? Does anyone want to?

My intention was not to be rude; and I apologize if it was taken that way or if there was any misconception in my part. Frowner

Unfortunately when it comes to my kids I'm very overprotected and I'm planing on signing it on this coming Monday's meeting.

In the ordenance says:
"Section 8-67. Prohibtion of discrimination in places of public accomodation; equal access.
(a) All persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment, of the goods, services, privileges, advantages and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, as defined in this section, without discrimination or segregation on the grounds of sexual orinetation, race, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, marital status, disability or gender identity....."

Public accomodations include public restrooms. And it can go both ways. Mens can go into the woman's restrooms and the women can go into the men's restrooms; as long as they are having gender identity issues.
