NW Gainesville 3 boys (4, 2 and 1) and a daughter due this month; and a step-mom and step-grandma, too! |
Dillards and Macy's will be giving away free cosmetics on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, as part of a settlement from a class action lawsuit. Check out link below for more details.

Hmmmm interesting. I'll probably go cause I love free stuff but I wish there was actually makeup instead of body sprays and washes but thanks for the heads up!

Not that I usually need a reason to go to the mall, but Woo-Hoo!!! Free stuff rocks! When I saw Lancome items on the list, my pulse definitely kicked it up a notch. Love their mascaras - even more when free!!
Thanks Jam!! My hubby issues you one raspberry |

Well this is cool, but HONESTLY I can say that I am not a member of the class who filed the lawsuit.

QUOTE from the website:
"You are a member of the class if you are currently a resident of the United States who purchased Department Store Cosmetics in the United States during the class period {May 29, 1994 through July 16, 2003}, which products were made, distributed and/or sold by the Manufacturer Defendants or Retailer Defendants listed below. You are not a member of the class, even though you bought the covered products during the relevant time period, if you fall into one or more of the following categories: all employees, officers, directors or agents (including attorneys) of any defendant, as well as any judge, justice or judicial officer presiding over this matter, and each such person’s immediate family". Although I didn't participate in the suit, I would assume that I qualify since I know I bought products from some of the cosmetic companies and stores listed? Do you just go up to the counter? I could totally use some free Lancome mascara! Marianne |

I read somewhere else that Macy's (maybe not all?) will just be putting the products on a table in the cosmetic department, so first come first served until they're gone. I'm sure there will be the dishonest few (or many) who will take more than one.

Wow, that store is going to be absolutely crazy if free cosmetics are just sitting on a table. It will be like Black Friday!

I thought that they (the stores) were supposed to make you sign something saying you belong to the class but you are not required to provide any more proof than that.

Hmmm....good thought. I don't know. I just know that I read somewhere that Macy's was going to put it out on a table. But that might not be all their stores? I will have to find where I read that. Okay, I found the article. It was from the Chicago Tribune. It states: "At Macy's stores, for instance, free products will be set on tables in the cosmetics department, said Jim Sluzewski, a company spokesman. "When they're gone, they're gone," he said." I guess I may have misinterpreted it?? They may just have stations setup with employees and have people sign something. I hope so. I'd hate to see women hoarding all the stuff and swiping it off the tables haha! This message has been edited. Last edited by: 3monkeys, Marianne |

Did anyone go get anything at this giveaway? I was going to go, but played tennis instead... Then, home to watch the inauguration.
