Hi girls. I'm due in August and my OB suggested that I choose a pediatrician now and let them know of my choice so that everything is set up when I go into labor. All of my friends that have children live out of town and therefore take their kids to see doctors outside of Gainesville. I was hoping you could tell me who you see or have seen as well as who you have had a good or bad experience with.

Thanks!

-Amy

First of all, congratulations on your baby!

You'll probably want to find one a little closer to your home. I live in the NW and my kids go to Pediatric Alliance and have Dr. Massias. I have never had a better pediatrician!

We love pur peds too....It's Dr. Ana over at Healthy Steps...the whole office is really nice. I think it's a godd idea to pick one out ahead of time and ask to come in and meet them. We didn't and ended up really unhappy with our first peds. Here is Dr. Ana's website:

We use Alliance Pediatrics behind Hunter's Crossing Publix and we love it. We actually use the ARNP there, Beth Severance. She is wonderful. Smiler

Dr. Lisa Tumarkin and Dr. Judy Banks have a practice located in North Florida Regional. I could sing their praises all day -- lovely, friendly, caring women who care for their patients. I've gotten an answer every time I've called with a question, and have always found dealing with their office to be as pleasant an experience as possible (considering shots are usually involved!)

WOW I am looking for a ped for my son expected in June and this was helpful to me as well. Also, how is the customer service? I recently went in for a routine OB appointment and my doc was a full hour late getting into the office and neither she nor any office staff made any apologies or explanations...

I live in Hawthorne and I take my kids to Shands Eastside clinic. I really like them. One of the nurses that see my kids the most remembered things they said 6 months ago! And usually we don't ever go in except for yearly check-ups.
I did try one of the clinics here in Hawthorne and I was not happy. I would rather drive farther for better medical care for my kids.

Thanks for all the replies! This site has been so helpful. It's hard to choose a doctor without knowing anything about them so this will really help.

Thanks again!
