Gainesville 4: Boy (10), Girl (7), Boy (23 months), Boy (3 months) |
Just an FYI: Gainesville Moms has just posted a video about car seat safety, specifically about transitioning from an infant car seat to a toddler car seat. There is some very good, pertinent information. Watch it here:
http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1365202...103&bctid=1496528532 Do you have any thoughts on car seat safety? Is there ANY excuse for not having your kid buckled up? What do you do when you see a stranger with kids not in their car seats? Do you know if your car seat is installed properly? And lastly, do you know what the rules are for booster seats in Florida? |

NW Gainesville 2..girl 7 and boy 3 |
All children 5 years of age or younger must be properly restrained no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. (FL Statute 316.613).
Never put the shoulder belt under a child's arm or behind the back, as this increases the risk of severe injury in a crash. Use a booster seat to correctly position the lap and shoulder belts for children once they outgrow forward facing child safety seats at about 40 pounds and around 4 years old. Children from approximately 40-80 pounds and 4'9" should ride in a belt positioning booster seat. Our 3 year old has a 5 point harness seat and our 7 year old still has a booster. She is only 4 ft 5in....we actually get grief from people because we still use a booster! Without one, the seat belt still hits her in a spot where she would try to put it behind her. We got the booster for around 20-30 bucks and to us it's completely worth it...I have heard too many horror stories... |
