The Sebastian Ferrero Foundation will host a Community Forum on Monday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m. The forum will be held at Oak Hall School in the Edith D. Cofrin Theatre. The address is 8009 SW 14th Avenue in Gainesville.


The purpose of the forum is to discuss the need for a full-service children’s hospital in Gainesville and how the community can work together to achieve this dream. Horst and Luisa Ferrero, along with local pediatricians, will discuss the role parents should play in ensuring the safety and well being of their children as they receive medical care.


The Sebastian Ferrero Foundation was formed to honor Sebastian Ferrero, a healthy and happy 3-year-old boy who died following a routine outpatient test at Shands UF in October 2007. Sebastian’s story has received national media attention and has prompted a developing partnership between Shands HealthCare, the UF College of Medicine and the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation to improve patient safety and pediatric care in Gainesville.
