Two boys, ages 3 and 1 |
We're about to make the move from baby food to adult food (chopped up in very tiny pieces, of course). What are some of the best first "big kid" foods?
Last time I think I just gave my son whatever we were eating. I can't really remember though. Mommy brain, I guess! |

Vermont 3: Husband (33), Boy (4yrs) and Girl (1yr) |
I started with whatever we were eating, mainly. FOr example bits of pasta, veggies, soft fruits.. the key is soft and if there are no teeth, mushy. I also tried wide varieties of baby food..
My oldest hated baby food and quickly favored spicy indian food. My youngest loved baby food but now that she is 1 she will not eat anything mushed up. I know corn, even mushed, is not worth it... most adults can't even digest it (just comes out the other end). My 1yrold eats peas, carrots, sweet pot., broccoli, cauliflower, squash, zucchini, lots of brown rice, whole wheat pasta, oranges, LOVES bananas, whole wheat bread(by itself), bagels, crackers(loves ritz) blah blah blah... most of this is because she has teeth and loves to feed herself and has gotten pretty good about chewing. But I believe that anything mushed is good for first foods... I prefer wholesome, whole grain, un-processed, or homemade LOOOOL I know, I know, shush. Hope that helps!!! Feel free to ask me anything, you seem to be just behind my little ones age so I am still pretty fresh with the phases. |
