Just when you think it couldn't get any more difficult, IT DOES!

It seems like every day my job as dad gets a little more demanding. Savannah, at 3 and a half, is full of life, energy, and curiosity. But now Violet, at 9 months, is getting just as full of those things. Along with her fast crawling and powerful lungs, she has developed her daddy's temper and a need for constant attention.

It was just about a month ago I was thinking "I think I've finally got this two-kid thing down to a science!" and then life reminded me that raising kids is a constantly evolving creature.

This is just me blowing off a little steam. (With Baby Violet holding onto my legs, talking to me. She is telling me to add "ba ba ba ba. da da da da. thppppppt!" lol)

Just when I have a handle on it, these darn kids have to get smarter and more demanding. Whats the deal with that?

I'm right with ya Nate. Just when you think you have it all figured out, they throw you a curve ball. I guess it keeps life exciting though.

My husband and I spell out a lot of words when we don't want our daughter to know what we are talking about. The other day I told my husband it was time for her to take a "B-A-T-H," and my daughter said, "I don't want to take a bath now." WHAT!? I guess we spelled it one too many times.

I can soooo relate! My kids are 8 and 5 and I have to stay up step ahead of my 8 yr old who in turn teaches my 5 yr.
My 8 yr old is way to smart for his own good. He will say to me things like, "Mom, I just know that when people get married that they have sex and have babies." Me thinking: OMG! How? What? Where did you hear that?
Then calmly I have to agree with him and explain it a bit farther about how sometimes people don't get married before kids, but what I expect of his life, etc.
He is so close the that "tween" stage and I am trying to prepare for something I don't want to really face...my first growing up and loosing the child like innocence. God only knows that when he learns it all, his sister will learn it faster than him.

Just wait until they can read....

We were getting gas the other day and my 5 yo said Hey mom, what's 3 c off mean? (we were at Super Walmart and you get 3 cents off a gallon if you use a gift card...)

My 5 week old already has figured out how to keep me from leaving the room. It's almost 2 pm and I still haven't brushed my teeth! Don't judge me I'm new at this!

I won't judge. There were some days I didn't even brush my hair and then when I finally did thought "when was the last time I washed this? For that matter, when was the last time I showered"

I've been right where you are, Mary. There will be no judging here.

They (little ones) are so quick to learn what works on you and what doesn't. Mine quickly learned that tears were the way to get almost anything they wanted -- it's so not fair when they pull at our emotional heartstrings!
