Apparently so. Here is a link to an article to give you some food for thought. Is the reason societal, or economic?

My only hope is that children are born to those who truly want them, 'cause they sure can be lots of work!

Who knows why they are having fewer children? I think women continue to wait longer and longer to get marry, thus pushing childbirth down the road. And many women who wait to give birth are finding they experience infertility problems. That helps to limit the size of families.

The state of the economy will also influence births; some people plan that aspect of their lives, so they will opt to have fewer children to continue with their current lifestyle.

And I believe people have become more selfish. We are more of a me" generation than a decade or more back. Children put a damper on that frame of mind so more and more adults are opting for a freer, more fun, less-restrictive lifestyle.

That's just my take on things. I really have NO CLUE!

I actually read an article the other day that the 3rd child is the new status symbol. The article stated that higher income people are having more children these days. I guess that is not off setting the general population's numbers though! I agree w. FLNONNY, it could be the higher rate of woman delaying getting pregnant-I know that is my case! I would have 3 for sure, if I did not have my first in my early 30s!

Hey LEW don't let that stop you...I had my last one at 38 and did fine... Smiler I would have another, my husband keeps pestering me, but now I am 42 and that does intimidate me a bit!!

I don't want any more than 2, but if I did I know for me there are issues associated with having more. For instance, the cost of daycare. As it is I am having to be more selective than I want to be when applying for jobs. I have to ask myself "Do they pay enough to cover daycare for my son and after school care for my daughter?" And if it does, does it pay enough that I have take home pay left over?

When I did have a FT job, G was constantly catching colds and processing them into ear infections. He now has tubes in his ears, but it always seems like it's something. And, since hubby brings home the bulk of the pay, I'm the responsible party when the children do become ill.

Financially, I don't think we could live comfortably with a 3rd child.

I am plannig on at least two. With the way things are now days things are getting more and more expensive. But I want to be done having kids by 33 so that gives me six years to have the second and possibly a third if I don't get my little boy. I think I might open an in home daycare when I have the second child. So if anyone knows about opening one please let me know.
