What do you think of it? I don't want to rip up the most beautiful state in our country but we really do need the resource. It will bring wealth, jobs, and independence to our country. Is it worth it?

I agree with Sarah! I also think that this is just another way for us to continue being dependent upon a resource that may not be there for us in the future. It would be great if they could balance drilling for the now while we continue coming up with ways of becoming less dependent upon oil in the future.

Yes we need to drill but we need to do it as enviromentally friendly as we can.

I am scared by all of this drilling. I just don't think it is a good idea to go drilling in state parks and Nature preserves. If we go drill crazy what will be left for our children to enjoy? I know times are tough but the thought of risking nature and losing animals. I really think we just need to find other ways to lessen our dependency on oil. That is just my thoughts.

" I really think we just need to find other ways to lessen our dependency on oil."

I agree with that 100%, and I think everyone does... but the only problem at the moment is that while a lot of people talk about "alternative energy sources" nobody is actually coming up with alternative energy sources. The closest we have come is the Hybrid engine, which still uses oil.

In the meantime, while all the talkers stop talking and start DOING, we need a stop-gap measure. Drilling for new oil wont solve any problems, agreed, but it will buy us a little time to come up with another plan

Because lets face it, if you listen to our politicians then our plan is to come up with a plan. And that, my friends, is not a great plan.

I agree Nate. I think we need to do this, but while companies like Bush Oil are getting rich doing all this new drilling we need to make sure they aren't stalling the alternative energy process.
