Hey, fellow parents, did anyone ever spearhead the Halloween party/Fall festival that landed on the calendar a while back? I know back in the Spring when Suzy was moderator, she had calendered ahead through the end of October with our different events, and the party was scheduled for October 18 (Gators open date). Is that still on, or not? Do we need someone to jump start organizing it? Do we have a majority interested in having it? I'll get the ball rolling here with this post, and every one chime in as to your thoughts/ideas/suggestions, etc. Or am I stepping on toes here and this is the new moderator's territory? If so, I apologize. I just like to plan ahead...and being in Michaels yesterday with all their pumpkin candles, fall/harvest decorations/ and halloween wreaths got me thinking about it. I would make one suggestion, though: with most of us having small children, my thought is we keep it G-rated and just harvest celebration, and not creep anyone out with any gore.

Anyone with me on this?

I'm with you. I'm definitely on for anything Halloween. Nate and I's little baby Violet will be turning 1 November 2nd and we want to have a little birthday party at our home on Saturday Nov. 1st. We figure all the kiddies can still wear their costumes and we can have a costume party. We insist on no presents. So everyone keep that in mind too. We just love Halloween.

kristinch1....what a ding-dong I am! I never put it together that you are "The Wife"! I always vaguely wondered if Gainesville Moms' resident Dad's wife ever joined in the talks...and you certainly do! Love Nate's blog....and we have two things in common. I'm the working away from home mom with my hubby the SAHD, and my three are around the same ages as your two: one 3 1/2 year old, one 18-month-old, and a just turned one-year-old (all boys)! So, Hello! And I'll definitely keep your halloween/birthday party in mind. What a great way to celebrate!

Wow, we have a lot in common, AAA mom. Especially now that I'm going to have baby #3. I got my first appt with the doctor this morning. I know Nate gets to meet everyone at all the playdates but I'm definitely going to the event on Saturday so hopefully I'll finally get to meet some of you!

not sure if anyone has ever attended but my family runs the Newberry Corn Field Maze. I have a flyer but have no idea how or where to post it. Instructions would be great...

we host several play groups on Sat and Sun early afternoons. We open at 3 on Sat and are open from 2-5 on Sunday. There are several things for little ones to do and nothing scary happens until after dark.

Let me know how to post the flyer...we have a blast!

oohh, sounds fun! Is it an all time time event, or just during the Fall, or just a particular weekend?

Softballmom, that is so neat that your family owns that property. I have such fond memories of that place. I went to the maze one year and all the corn was gone so there was a haunted hayride instead. In front of me in line was my ex-boyfriend who had broken my heart with some pretty girl. I was so sad and later that night I went to a Halloween party where I met Nate. We married a year later on Halloween and our baby Violet was almost born on Halloween, Nov. 2nd. We brought our 3 year old there last year and she had a blast.

Does this sound like a field trip for October or November? I've never been...I gotta take my gang! Love the pictures everyone has posted.

If a field trip does not work out, anyone want to compare calendars and try meeting up out there?
