That is interesting. And it never mentions single moms who do everything.

I think if I was a stay-at-home mom this would really upset me. It seems to get higher every year! Yet SAHM's -- heck, working moms too -- don't always get the recognition for all the work we do.

LOL! I think probably the last time I had the luxury of freedom and time to do that was BEFORE kids! But it probably would have been cookie dough and game shows for me Marianne |

I have been on both sides of the fence. I was a SAHM for a few years; now, I am a FT working mom. And my hubby is staying home. I think it's great that we've both been home with the kids so that we can both really appreciate the other for all that we do - at work and at home.

I actually recently saw an episode of Home Improvement where Tim decided to calculate 'back pay' for Jill. With bonuses for child labor, dealing with multiple 'extra messes' from his repairs etc. He came up with millions not including benefits like health insurance, raises, etc.
My take is, no we prolly couldn't put a dollar amount on the parenting but surely the cleaning, cooking, organizing, and hours. I think we all know the pressures; you can never quit, failure is not an option LOL etc. There is a lot to be said for the job of any mother or father, sometimes even grandparent. We rock, we know it, and we are worth six figures easily |
