I know I remember reading about Oct events somewhere on here but I cant seem to find them now. Does anyone know about this friday and whats going on with the fireman and gymbus..as does anyone know about kids stuff during Gator games...something they have on campus or around it?? I know boo at the zoo date and time but whens all the other things?? Theres so many I want to be sure I forget anything cause I know my girl would love to go and its nice to get out and meet other parents esp. when the kids are all dressed up so cute

"Screaming for Safety" Halloween Event Activities: Trick- or- Treating with LOTS of candy, face painting, the Sun Country Gym Bus, sit in a Fire Truck and Ambulance, meet Firefighters, see a karate demo, listen to a live DJ, participate in a costume contest for all ages (even adults) and door prizes, walk in our cake walk game...and get all kinds of safety information! Some of the participating agencies: Gainesville Fire Rescue, Alachua County Fire Rescue, Gainesville Police Department, Alachua County Sheriff's Office, University Police Department, Shands Safe Kids, Partnership for Strong Families, Child Advocacy Center, Gainesville Regional Utilities, Sun Country Sports Center, Alachua County Library, the Swim Squad, the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation...and more! Community Sponsors: Gainesville Sun (Guardian and Voice), Kiss 105.3, North Florida School Days Publication, Publix Supermarkets, Sams Club, and Wal- Mart. Admission: Only $2 or 2 non- perishable goods per participating child, all adults with their children are free. *October 18th and 19th Cedar Key Festival 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM each day. This major event features well over 200 arts and crafts exhibits, and great local seafood food in City Park. There will be live musical entertainment at several places around town during the days and nights, and a parade on Saturday morning. In addition on this weekend, there is an open house at the lighthouse on Seahorse Key, the big island 3 miles to the west of Cedar Key. Explore the light, look at the exhibits and wander this beautiful island. Shuttle boats are available at City Marina. Be sure to remember your camera and binoculars! *October 18th and 19 Butterfly Festival Join the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville for a weekend of exciting new experiences. ButterflyFest offers something for everyone! Throughout the weekend, all ages can participate in fun and educational activities, including take-away crafts for children , informative workshops , and demonstrations on conservation and attracting butterflies and other pollinators. Take part in a special field trip or tour and shop for unique butterfly and garden gifts. *October 18th-- Gainesville Moms Halloween/Fall Potluck *October 19th-- Horsin' Around Fall Festival The family-focused event, which will run from 2pm until 6pm, will feature live entertainment, hay rides, several games and crafts for children, barbeque for purchase, and other family-friendly activities. Admission to the event is FREE. While Halloween is traditionally a time to fear the spooky side of bats, it also presents a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the beneficial side of bats and campaign to Save our Nightlife! Groups with tables and displays for 2008 include - Florida Bat Conservancy, Alachua Audobon, Florida Museum of Natural History, Friends of Payne’s Prairie, Watershed Action volunteers. This year, groups will be selling bat jewelry and crafts, bat photos, T-shirts (in Gator colors!),Wildlfower Seeds, plants and much more. There will be plenty of craft activities to participate in, including mask-making crafts and batty face-painting. You're invited to trick-or-treat at the Santa Fe Community College Teaching Zoo's Boo at the Zoo Halloween event, 3-7:30 p.m. Friday, October 31st. Boo at the Zoo brings together people of all ages for a fun, safe, and generous Halloween adventure. The zoo's 10-acre forest will glow with lights strung along its trails. The entire zoo will be decorated in "spooktacular" Halloween themes. Student zookeepers will hand out more than 92,000 pieces of candy at 12 candy stations around the zoo, and lead fun Halloween games for kids in the clearing at the zoo entrance. Boo at the Zoo admission is one canned good per visitor. Last year, more than 6,000 visitors attended Boo at the Zoo, which donated canned goods to area food banks -- just in time to help people feed their families for the holidays. Is anybody going to this homecoming carnival featured in the paper. It sounds like its tomorrow but homecoming is a ways away yet.
and we're going to the Wizard of Oz on Sunday at 0200 if anyone is going to that. We saw Stacy and carmic1975 at the screaming for safety. IT was fun. Link |
