NW Gainesville 3 boys (1-3 y/o and 2 -1y/o's) and a step-mom and step-grandma, too! |
A Long Island animal shelter is a temporary home for a 1-foot-long snake that a mother found coiled on her 7-month-old daughter's leg as the baby slept in a crib.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25082288/from/ET/ You would just have to go ahead and dig a big ole' hole and bury me, if this ever happened in my house. No kidding, I need a valium just reading this story. Jam [url=http://mommamoesblog.blogspot.com/url] |

OMG! I think I would go into heart failure or shock or something!
Thankfully the baby wasn't hurt, since the article didn't mention it. Tammy |

That's one of my greatest fears -- that, or walking in and seeing a big spider perched on one of my boys. Yuck, it's sending chills down my back just thinking about it.

NW Gainesville 2..girl 7 and boy 3 |
Having grown up in the sticks (with brothers who liked to put grass snakes in my bed!!) I have no real fear of snakes....or spiders really....but if I see a palmetto bug/cockroach....forget it...I'm screaming like a little girl!! haha

Come on people, it was one foot long and about the diameter of your pinky finger. A snake of that size could not have hurt the baby in the slightest of ways. We need to teach our children respect of nature not fear and that starts with how parents react to situations like this. If you don't know about snakes get the child away quickly then when you find out it was harmless, relax. To pace around all night carrying the child and to not put the child back to bed is ridiculous.

I'm with TripleAmom on this one!!!! I think I would seriously have a heart attack - I don't care what anyone says, I am deathly afraid of snakes. I will literally start crying if I just see one in the yard (from inside the house) no other creature has that affect on me, thank God. And I don't see anything wrong with being a little "ridiculous" when it comes to the safety of little ones.

My "ridiculous" comment was made after the snake was gone and she knew it was harmless. To pace around all night when the snake is no longer even there is ridiculous.

I must have missed something, I didn't see anywhere where they stated they "pace around all night carrying the child and to not put the child back to bed". Also the video stated the snake was 3 foot long.
IMO, I don't think it's ridiculous to not want to put a baby back in the crib, especially when it's the middle of the night and you don't know how the snake got into the crib to begin with. If it was my child, they would be sleeping in my bed until I knew where the snake was coming from and making sure another potentially harmful animal could not enter my child's room or anywhere else in the house where my child would be at.
