NW Gainesville 2..girl 7 and boy 3 |
I have been following this story since it happened and the whole thing is so scary. It happened in Seminole County and this woman was able to walk into the hospital, change into scrubs and take a newborn! The first article I read said that the newborn she ended up taking was her second attempt in this same ward and moments after the first. What is really scary is this new information about how it was handled at the hospital.

That is so scary! I delivered my daughter in Coral Springs, FL. That hospital seemed to have a good system in place as well, although there was definitely room for human error. Same with the hospital here in Indiana where I delivered my son.

These stories always seem to come out when I'm pregnant! I had my husband stay with our baby the entire time they were stitching me up from my c-section during my last pregnancy, and I'm sure that if the baby and I are separated again this time, for any amount of time, I will send Daddy to keep a watchful eye over him or her!

I, too, delivered at North Florida and they had an alarm bracelet type of device on the baby. What a great idea! So, if anyone took him beyond a certain point, an alarm would sound. That made me feel good. It was only removed by the nurse right as we were getting ready to leave. I wonder what kind of security system this hospital had in place. I can't believe this woman was able to actually attempt this before actually taking a baby...

Well, here's a funny story. I was actually switched at birth for a few hours. My mother said that there were two girls born at the exact time, and when they took the babies to the nurseries, somehow the bands were put on the wrong babies. So, they brought her a baby with my name on its armband, but it wasn't me. Apparently, it was quite obvious as they brought her a Hispanic baby. And they took the Hispanic woman a white baby with blue eyes. But imagine if both women had looked alike, and the babies as well. Well, who knows where I'd be today...lol.
