I'm thinking that if you are stuck on voting for one candidate or the other, you are bound to pick out the flaws of the opposite candidate. For the longest time I kept telling myself that although I was swaying one way I wasn't set on voting that way and could be persuaded to vote for the other side. I'm just not seeing anything coming from the opposite side that really wows me.

Well, I will say I am more impressed with Joe Biden than I am with Barack Obama. Still I was also impressed with Sarah Palin tonight. She made a good point in saying it was much better speaking in an open forum than relying on the media to express her opinions. This debate was important for the McCain/Palin ticket and I believe Palin did a good job. She connects with America and says it like it is. I did not like the back and forth he said she saids..but I guess you get that in all political debates. The debate was a good one.

Palin:
1) Demonstrated a stronger presence then she has in some of the interviews she has done lately
3) Said some things that the, her words, "Average American" would want to hear.
1) Did not answer the questions directly
2) Was very light w/ facts and figures-demonstrated lack of depth knowledge

Biden:
1) Very good knowledge/command of facts and figures. I really liked hearing how he explained McCain's healthcare plan. WOW! I had no idea that it would be funded by us folks that have healthcare with our employers. That would be a huge neg for my family.
2) He had an easy and confident approach to answering the questions as if he has thought about these topics a lot over the years and had a ton of knowledge about each topic. On the contrary, Palin appeared rehearsed, like she crammed for a test. When she did not know the answer-she did not answer it but talked about something else-much like what I used to do on essay tests in college Smiler. I once had a boss like that. He sored to the top of the heap due to being able to basically BS well. He was finally fired for poor performance.

In my opinion, have no idea what the media is saying as I have not watched it yet, Palin did not hurt McCain. However, she did not help him as much as he needed either. I think Biden may have really helped Obama.

I thought it was a great debate. I liked the questions. I thought they were fair to both parties.

If we had to choose b/t Biden and Palin for president (I think we have to consider that) who would we choose?

Biden is a LAWYER and a long-time poltiician. He should have sounded polished. What's sad is is lying about McCain. McCain didn't get the term "Maverick" because he's like George Bush. He got the term because he, like Palin, knocked heads w/ his own party. Obama voted far left with his party 96% of the time; if you noticed, Biden didn't even try to defend that.

I don't know how any of you know what McCain's healthplan is since it hasn't been announced. Obama wants socialized medicine, while Canada and Britian are moving away from that failed system. There are ways to improve healthcare WITHOUT taxing everyone to death, pushing doctors out of the profession and making our healthcare half as good as it is now. How funny that Teddy Kennedy got immediate surgery due to our heathcare system; had we have socialized medicine, he would have had to wait 5 weeks to see a specialist (that's not even the surgery). The man would be dead!

Palin didn't earn an 80% approval rating in her home state for nothing (it's the highest approval rating of any governor EVER in history). She and McCain do what they feel is best; they don't stick w/ their party. Biden has slammed Obama many times prior to the debate so his honesty in the debate is questionable. He seems to have forgotten how he was against much of what Obama said on the surge (Obama would have allowed the country to fall to terrorists & Iran), on taxation, etc.

Obama knows NOTHING about economics, he's a socialist (socialism has failed everywhere throughout history..it doesn't stimulate an economy), and his poor judgement on terrorist states, his 20 YEARS with the racist Rev. Wright, the terrorist Ayers, the financial crooks Johnson & Raines, the criminal Rezko and ALL the others Obama has chosen to befriend speaks volumes about this tax-happy, FAR FAR left man.

And I will NEVER forget his voting to deny ANY health care intervention to babies born during abortion operations! What kind of HUMAN votes to allow BORN babies to die alone? A monster does.

Had the press not campagined for and protected Mr. Obama since Day 1, Hillary would be up against McCain. Obama's lack of experience and his poor judgement all around would have been exposed thru professional reporting. Sadly, our media is in more trouble than our country!

I cannot believe I missed it!!! I was so looking forward to it but hubby wanted a date night and surprised me with concert tickets. I will say after reading all your comments, which I love that we all feel free to share very different opinions, I will say that I would be careful listening to a candidate describe an opponents plans, health or otherwise. Does anyone know where I can watch the rerun?

I can honestly say that there are two things that really bugged me about Palin...the way that she blatantly kept changing the subject when the current subject didn't suit her, and how she compared herself to the average middle-class American. I'm sorry, but the average middle-class American is now struggling to pay all of their bills, sell their home, purchase groceries, and put their kids through college. Can you honestly tell me that her future earnings will keep her in the middle-class bracket? I'm really not concerned with where she came from, I'm concerned with where she's headed and what she would do to get there.

I have to agree Casmly...she definitely didn't sway me their way...plus her last few interviews that I have seen have been terrible.
I have to say...I would never try to tell someone who to vote for, but I say make sure you do your own research from sources that aren't swayed toward either party.
About Obama's abortion vote...as soon as I read about it (somewhere else) I researched it. It is true that he voted against the legislation but there were very solid reasons for it. The way it was originally written, it would have taken away many doctor//patient rights and would have allowed prosecution in cases where it wouldn't have been warranted. He has said that it was this wording that caused him to vote against it. Since then there has been legislation (National) passed that takes care of newborns born alive in this situation.
Like I said, I would never try to tell someone who to vote for...but I think we all need to look into all the candidates, their voting records, and why they voted the way they did.

bishop96. I could not agree more. It is so important to do our research! Also important, once that research is done, to stay informed as things change often! For anyone interested, John McCain announced his healthcare plan some time ago. It can be read on his website I pasted the link below.

I agree with this statement. I think Hillary was 100% more qualified than Obama. The thought of Obama in the White House distresses me. For more reasons than I could list I will be voting Repubican this year...

I guess I don't really understand how anyone can say that Hillary has ample experience. Can someone explain this to me?

I don't nessecarily think Hillary was all that qualified...I just think she was a better democratic choice than Obama. I wouldn't be so worried about this election if the choices were Hillary or McCain.
