I've heard this story too many times now. It's horrible when people fall through the cracks, but heartbreaking when it's a child! This just hurts me and makes me so angry at these women!!! Three of them.

This makes me so sad. It makes me want to be able to help. It also makes me feel guilty about all of the love/attention, affection my children get from two very committed parents and hundreds of people in their family that shower them w/ more of the same. This little boy does not seem to have anyone who was able/willing to help him. It is not fair!

I just read this same story on MSN. And I am literally typing through my tears. I can't imagine how someone could do this unthinkable horror to anyone, much less a poor child. What is wrong with people? What is wrong with the world? How, with as much government and so many laws in this country, could this go unnoticed? I think as a society, we have turned a blind eye to our neighbors. I'm so sad by this story I will hug my own kids until they ask me to stop. Society failed this boy, and thank God he's coming around. But then what? It's a known fact..abused children become abusers.

It's all our responsiblilty to report abuse.

This makes me soo mad what kind of human being would hurt a child what reason do they have NONE there is never a reason to hurt a child.I really feel that those women should suffer the exact same things he suffered on top of a prison sentence.Their disgusting!!!!And it's very obvious that many people weren't doing their jobs when it comes down to it they need to realize the responsibility of their jobs and if they cant handle it find someone who will. The children are what matter!Sorry I said it made me mad.

I think it is a common and reasonable question to ask, "How could someone do this to a child"? The answer is all too often, "someone that experienced the same abuse themselves as a child". It is all they know, it is what they were taught. Have you ever said something to your child and thought to yourself, "I sounded just like my mother". It is hard to fight the cycles within us-those of us with the good fortune to have loving mothers/fathers, cannot understand what it is like for these people, the boy, or his caregivers. The abusers are filled with anger, probably due to their own caregivers filling them w/ this anger. They are broken people. It is very sad and not as simple as it seems. I commend those that can break the cycle of abuse; I cannot imagine how hard it must be. Do you think it is possible to help them become better people, to regain the conscience and feelings that were possibly stolen from them as children? Is the answer really locking them up and throwing away the key, are we doing our part if this is the only solution we have to offer?

I could offer some other solutions but they would be from the emotional heart of a pregnant lady and wouldn't be the most humane solution. I appreciate trying to put yourself in another's shoes instead of just judging. I think we can especially all learn from the lady who tipped off the police--probably a mom. How many times have we seen or heard something that could possibly be an injustice and we explain it away or try to give others the "benefit of the doubt" and do nothing? It is an important lesson, listening to those instincts.

We unfortunately live in a socity that it is easier for them (or even us) to sweep such hedicious (sp?) crimes under the carpet then to actually deal with it...until a good samaritan comes along and stands up on behalf of the child and do something.

The system will work if we make it work. But if we ignor it and sweep it under the carpet it will never work. Unfortuantely, I believe thos who work for the system don't want to make it work or they do and is overwhelmed and ignors it. Maybe those who work in the system need to be re-energized somehow?

thoughts are running faster than fingers!
