How does everyone feel about immigration? Are you pro, against or somewhere in the middle?

we farm and work seasonal and often times they are migrant workers on a regular basis. we do everything we can to ensure they have proper paperwork but we also realize that is something they can "purchase" at the local flee market.

having said that, i believe we should complete the fence, secure our borders and then come up with some plan to work with the illegals already here. i do not think rounding them up and "shipping them back" will solve anything.

i believe there should be a worker identification card but i do not believe they should qualify for any government assistance unless they can prove the pay federal income tax. most of them fill our their paperwork so that no withholding is taken out, married with 6 or 7 dependents...

anyone else?

I agree, softball mom. But I also hear so many stories about how some people feel they should all go away and they are all bad, etc.
But about families? There are some families pulled apart because of immigration rules and regulations which is harder to navigate than the IRS.

I definitely agree with both of you. This is such a hot-button issue. On one hand, I think that illegal immigrants create a stress on our economy and we end up paying as taxpayers, which doesn't seem fair at all. On the other hand, I do think about the families, too..those that are here already.

So, having said that, I agree with both of you guys. We definitely need to secure our borders, and work with those who are already here. I just don't think it is realistic to round everyone up, like SBM said.
