This is just horrible! I can't believe a nurse would ignore a patient who was writhing in pain. I worked in a hospital for a few years long ago, and the patient was always the priority. Even if no charges will be filed, this nurse should be fired.

Yes I agree the nurse should be fired...the whole emergency dept needs a review. The article states the lady was there for 13 hours less than 24 hours before...why didn't they diagnose her correctly then?? Then there's the other patient in the ER waiting room that called 911 and the 911 operator refused the call...what a mess...how sad.

I am deeply saddened by this injustice. Any staff that witnessed this woman lying on the ground dying and did not act immediately should be fired and charged. Our health care system is supposed to be there help, and this poor lady didn't receive 1 iota of that. Disgusting!

there was a story on fox news this morning and it said that an investigation was ongoing. the charges that are pending are falsifying government documents. not only did they let this woman die, then they doctored the medical records to "cover it up". the hospital is owned by the city of new york so this is not over. the daughter said that they are suing the hospital as soon as the investigation is over.

There are actually 2 different cases right now...one is of the lady who was videotaped collapsing and the other is the story that Suzy posted...where she had been misdiagnosed and then came back and was ignored. I think both cases are reprehensible! I know that hospitals get crazy busy but it's their job to take care of people...if they are that burnt out, that they can ignore someone in pain...then I think they need to step back and re-evaluate what they are doing.
