Two boys, ages 4 and 1 |
Interesting story!
Has the economy put your family's plans on hold, or at least made you think twice about whether to have a baby in these troubling times? |

Gainesville 1- Kaylee (23 months) |
The economy brings fears with the thought of a new baby. But I really want another baby close in age for Kaylee to play with. So we have cut back on spending if it is not necessary we are not buying it. We really want to get ourselves in a good place financially in 2009. We have been barely getting by these days and the credit card bill just keeps getting higher and harder to pay.

We were so broke when we had the first one it feels like we can do anything now!!! LOL! God def provided and we've only bought a couple packs of diapers and almost no outfits. We live simple and pray hard. For me I'm more thinking about my body and when it will feel ready and when Jack will be ready.

2 kids; 4 year old daughter, 20 month old son |
It has made us think about renting ours out to people who want to know what its like, just to have the extra $$....LOL
I think if we had not reached our pre-determined limit, right now we would likely decide one was enough. Of course, as so many are fond of saying - if you wait until the time, money and life are all right, you will never have kids - so I don't know for sure that the economy would dictate such an important decision. I am incredibly glad we saved most all of Macy's first toys so we have a gracious plenty to go around! Being forced to actually live within ones means is not fun when your means used to be well above where you are now, but it isn't unbearable. |

Well I wouldn't not have more kids because of the economy..but I might postpone it a bit.

We would love a 3rd. It is not the economy going down hill that is impacting our decision. It is our ages going uphill

I would have to say that my hubby and I definitely think about the economy when we think about #2. But I agree with Michelle in that the timing never seems right. There is always something going on. So when it comes down to it, my hubby and I are just going to decide when a second little one would be right based on when we feel we are ready. I am just making sure to hold onto all of my daughter's old things. Do you think a little boy would mind playing with pink rattles? Just kidding.

3 wonderful kids! step-son (17) son (8) girl (6) |
For my dh and I it is more than just the economy, we have immigration issues to think of, as well as our own personal finances to take care of. We also think about child care. Neither of us really want to place our baby in daycare, but we both want to work. That may never be decided until the last minute!

I don't think anything should restrict a person from bringing a child into the world. I know money is of course necessary to raise a child, but you never know when a recession is going to hit and when its going to go away..so with that said, I don't think you should live your life waiting for something that's out of your hands to change.
