Okay,
To start off my afternoon right I go to the store and get out to walk in the store and step in....................GUM.

This is why I had to post this.
I wondered what pet peeves people had.

I absolutely HATE gum, I hate, it hate, it hate it!
Oh and did I mention I HATE it?

I don't understand why people spit it on the ground for people to step in and then have to pick it off their shoes and off the carpet in the cars and the smell````````` oh I hate it.

Mad

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! I can't stand the smell of gum. When someone is chewing it in the car with me, it just permeates everywhere. Everyone always asks why I roll down the window, but I just say I need some fresh air!

Also, people who chew with their mouth open.

Totally agree w/ gum as being just plane gross. I think my major pet peeve though is people who interrupt when other people are talking and repeat the same stories over and OVER again...I am fine when my toddler does this-I am trying to teach him. However, when it is adults...another story indeed Smiler.

Spitting gum on the ground irritates me too. There are thousands of trashcans around...USE THEM!!!

I can't stand it when someone asks me a question and doesn't stop talking long enough for me to give a freaking answer! Also, I hate stupid drivers.

Oh.....driving around the UF and the collage students riding their bikes do not obey the traffic laws and blow through the stop signs and when you have to slam on your breaks they look at you and flip you off and call you every name in the book like it's your fault and they can do what ever they want.

I agree with the bad driver thing. If you can't drive and follow the traffic rules-DON"T DRIVE! Take a bus, or carpool! Also, when people drive down the oppisite way in parking lots. This makes me want to ram their car to teach them a lesson (although I NEVER would, that's how I feel.).

People who drive WAY too fast and recklessly around parking lots. This simply infuriates me, because often times I am walking two little girls through a parking lot, and then some hot-rodding young punk blaring his tuneless music squeals his tires coming around the corner. Or worse yet, an old person careens through a stop sign without a pause because they didn't see it.

Maybe this goes beyond pet peeve, though, because it involves life and limb.

True story, for anyone out there who feels my anger on this issue:

Savannah (age 1 and change) and I were coming out of Publix. There is a cross walk, with a stop sign, but I always stop and look both ways. Good thing I did, because some old timer cruised right through 3 seconds later, only to slam on the brakes so he could turn into a row of parking spots.

So after running through the crosswalk, he stops ten feet later. Can you fathom the selfishness?

So I pushed the cart a few feet to the left, past his rear bumper, and I tapped my fist on his trunk. He sticks his head out the window and looks back.

"That's a (expletive deleted) stop sign! You could have hit me, or her."

And he looks away and waves his hand dismissively.

"Don't think you being old means I won't drag you out of that car and whip your (expletive deleted)"

He decided not to park, but to keep on driving to another grocery store.

Usually I feel bad if I lose my temper in front of my kids. It sets a bad example. But in this case I didn't feel bad at all. And I still don't. That kind of reckless behavior can change, or even destroy, lives.

Also, I would say gum on the ground, but if I stopped giving Savannah sugarfree gum then I would probaly never step in it again.

My pet peeve is seeing kids unrestrained in a moving vehicle. It makes me want to yank the driver out of the car and just tell them how stupid and foolish they are. The ultimate one is when you see the adult strapped in and the kids are all over the place. Or better yet when you are talking to someone about it and the parent says..."oh, they just won't stay in the seat, they just unbuckle and get out". Mad HELLO????? THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE UNLESS SEAT BELTS ARE ON AND ALL KIDS ARE STRAPPED IN!!!! If someone unbuckles...the car stops.

So...thats my pet peeve...I'm all better now Smiler

I belong to another board where a discussion was started at the beginning of school last year. It started out by one parent whining about how they were being required to provide their student with a very expensive science calculator. (Something that is standard to require in advanced level math classes) Many other parents chimed in that they can't believe how long the lists have gotten for school anymore and that they can't understand why a teacher needs wipes, kleenex etc.

Are you kidding me?? Really?? Many of these same parents were complaining that the teachers don't get paid enough. They don't care about the students like they should etc. etc. I'm not saying that there aren't some teachers out there that shouldn't be teaching. However, don't you think they may be partially burnt out because they have to argue with parents every year about NECESSARY school supplies. I also understand that some people can't afford the extras. But you know, I have yet to speak with one teacher that doesn't understand this and isn't willing to fill in the gap for that parent if they would simply explain their situation to the teacher.

I suppose I'm one of those people that hates the idea of a teacher having to shell out extra money for our students. I also hate the idea of my taxes going up to provide these items for our students. So, I'd much rather shell out the money to provide for my student from the beginning so that I can ensure they get the best education possible.

Ohh, I got another one. When the parking lot is full, and one driver sees that a spot is opening up near the front and sits there waiting for the person to pull out. Meanwhile, a line is forming behind him and no one can get around. The worst is at the grocery store. I've actually been stuck behind drivers who sit and wait for the person to load up all their groceries, get in the car, then pull out. Come on, just park 5 or 6 spaces down and walk!

Along the same lines Raisingboys...When I was living in Ft. Lauderdale this happened a bunch. You would be waiting for a space that someone was pulling out of. Then, from the other side someone would pull up and take the space from you. That used to drive me CRAZY. And usually the worst offenders were older men who seemed to think the world owed them something and would get ticked when the person backing out would back out in such a way that I would end up with the space I had been waiting patiently for. Some people are just so rude and feel so entitled.

I can't stand it when people cruise in the fast lane 5 or 10 miles below the speed limit and refuse to get over in the lane they are supposed to be in if you are a slow driver. Or better yet I get in the slow lane to go around and then they decide to get over at that moment.

Irritates me to no end.

Oh, and people who eat loud. You know, those people who can make mashed potatos crunch?

I almost referenced Fried Green Tomatoes too!! That's what I was thinking about when I wrote that post actually. I've never really had much of an issue with that particular problem except in Ft. Lauderdale. I wonder why that was...

I was reading this and realized I have a LOT of pet peeves. I hate when I hear my hubby chewing on his nails just smacking away. I hate that when my light turns green I have to wait for the three ppl to finish running their red light before I can go. I hate calling a company and after a ton of prompts and entering in every possible numeric self-identifier you still don't get a real person. I hate fleas, poison ivey, and foul odors. The list could go on!
