Mayo Baby boy, due June 14! |
I got cocky. I probably deserve them. I eat and don't gain weight (pre-prego), I have thick hair and only gained prego weight in my belly. Therefore I was not surprised when I moved seamlessly into my 9th month with a huge but unblemished belly...that is until I saw my maternity pics. You see, my belly juts out so far it comes around the corner a good 3 seconds before I do and I have not seen its underside in 2 months...It is COVERED in HUGE PURPLE STRETCH MARKS!!! I use cocoa butter twice a day every day but I recently learned that these marks are genetic and no cream can touch the ghastly things. They are everywhere and that goes to show you that pride truly does go before a fall. Is it true? Is there really no remedy for the violet ravines that cross my underside?

I had the exact same thing happen to me! I had no idea until my stomach had shriveled back up I had tons of purple "lightning bolts" as I like to call them. I am curious too!

Hollywood florida 1 lil' boy hes 18 months old |
I was absolutely phyco about them and made shawn rub my whole body down everyday and carried coco butter everywhere with me so rideing in the car at work or just every free min I doused myself with cream and very luckly I got only a few one right on my belly button and a few on each thigh.I was relived.lol You know why we have to have them is beyond me.I mean we get pms our whole lives then just when you think it's over your pregnant which comes with it's whole set of suffering then the aftermath of strech marks to remind you. It's incredable

now here is something we almost all share in motherhood.
I was always the one who could eat anything as well. When I was prego the first time I gained TONNNNNNNNNNNS, about 50lbs. I was ENORMOUS. I also used lots of coco butter. Even still, tons of stretch marks. My second I gained about 40 and it got much worse in my thighs... then came the third... there is no hope. Luckily most are below the waist line and in the thighs but I sure look like an old lady with wrinkly 'baggage' and varicose vein looking legs LOOL I highly doubt there is a way to un-stretch the skin... I know some overweight men that have some 'never leaving' stretch marks of the same colors and patterns. Fact of life I 'spose |

Since stretch marks are heredity, you either get them or you don't. Nothing, from what I've read over the years, works on stretch marks. I wear mine as a badge of honor....one child just under 7 lbs (I gained practically nothing w/ her) and one child 10 1/2 lbs at birth (I gained 25 lbs). When I give my children a lecture about me scarificing for them (jokingly), I whip up my shirt and show them the damage they did to me. Then I tell them they "OWE ME." They laugh and tell me to blame their father
There are plenty of swim suits that cover stretch marks and the only one who sees the lines (unless I want to show them) is my husband of 18 years. He could care less and so could I. Being in good health and having a happy family is what counts; the rest is simply the wrapping paper of life. |
