I like to leave the phone on the counter, but not hang up. Then they get to listen to Yo Gabba Gabba or Wonderpets or whatever crap we have on that day. Let them hang up when they get tired of it.
I may not have hung up on him, but he would definately hang up on me! I have some tough questions.... |

I would like to say that personally, and my own opinon, whether liked /accepted or not...that I feel it is unfair for you to say this about Obama without even given him a fair chance to not only prove himself, but to show that he is honest and sincere and stop beleiving what the media and others say that probably is NOT true.
After all, we gave Bush a chance -2x's! and he failed us. the state representative did not intentionally hang up on him, she just thought it was a hoax. I'm sure if she truley knew it was him, she would had gladly talked to him. But I think we need to be reasonable and fair before judging someone who has not yet stepped into the office and proven himself. After all- I think Jesus would had given YOU that fair chance too! Ok...I'm heading back to bed now. Sorry if I offended anyone. |

You could never offend, Dee.
I've always believed we should never wish our president harm and stand behind him (or her) in order to show pride and support for our country. However, I am very tired of hearing about Obama. During the election he was on my television screen during every break, ads on the radio during every break, on the front page of every paper and magazine. Now that he's elected everything is about what kind of dog Obama should get or what school his kids should go to. I really don't care about those things. I care about the important things but right now I feel like he's being shoved down my throat. I'm fine with giving him a chance as our president, I hope he does great things but unless it's about our country, I just don't want to be bothered with it. Yet you can't get out of bed in the morning with out hearing or seeing him right off. I can't handle that much of anyone. When it comes down to it, I just want him to his job and I'd hope to not have to hear about him every waking moment for the next 4-8 years. In Dee's words... "Ok...I'm heading back to bed now. Sorry if I offended anyone." (I mean it.) -Amy |

I totally agree with Dee and Amy. He may not have been my candidate, but he is going to be our President. And he deserves our trust and respect until he violates either/both.

He may be the next President, but one of his "campaign promises" has already come home to roost with me. The company I work for is a small business with over $250k in annual profits so they will be taxed at a higher level now, despite a drop in production and sales that will just keep them in the specified range. They cannot afford the additional costs of this plus the planned 'forced' health coverage for small businesses so they have no real option but to close up. This means I now have no job and the new President isn't even in office yet. With this drop of income, we may very well lose our house and one vehicle and our credit rating is taking a beating so we will not be able to get any sort of assistance. Oh and we do not qualify for any of the myriad of plans outlined to keep people in their homes because we fought like hell to keep our bills current - who knew this would be the wrong choice? For this reason, I don't have too much faith in Mr Obama and because we live in a country where I am permitted to have my own opinions without prejudice (or so we are told) I do not support this choice for commander in chief. That does not mean I am un-american, I simply disagree with the way things are going and I used my voice, and my vote, to indicate so. Much the same way so, SO many others have done with the current President. Maybe before condemning me for my views and beliefs for the upcoming presidency, people should review their own words and see that they are doing precisely the thing they are now berating me for.
I do not trust him, I do not support his views or opinions but as an American, I will support this country. All of you who have been badmouthing the past 8 years can surely appreciate how those of us who did not support your candidate must now feel. Those of us who support President Bush have had to endure the trash talk and complaining for 8 years, now its your turn. If you can dish it out, you must be prepared to take it as well. I don't care if I offended anyone, as this is my opinion, no one else has to agree with me; you just have to understand that I have the right to my own way of thinking and expressing such, just as all of you do. I am offended by the hordes of blind-faith followers. I am sick of not being able to watch TV and not see a story about what some member of the Obama family did/said/wore/bought/thought/drank/played or anything else. I find that sort of thing very offensive about ANY family because it has no bearing on anything to do with real life daily issues. There are people losing homes, jobs, retirement plans and who can't afford food and meds so they have to choose. Who cares what breed of dog the President gets? What designeer will adorn his wife on Jan 20th? What school his kids will attend? Well, the way things are going we will have to turn off the cable soon and then I guess I won't have to hear about it! |

Michelle,
Is your company closing simply due to the fact that he might pass that bill? Seems they would wait to see how it pans out? Of course, I have not watched the news in more days/weeks than I can count as I am buried at work right now. Perhaps he did pass a tax reform bill before getting into office that I missed! |

Well if the president-elect made a promise to impose higher taxes on companies with $250k in profits why would companies not take that to heart and take action now? It was a promise. He said he WOULD increase taxes on these companies. If this doesn't happen, what other promises will he break? Will he stop supporting a free market? Will he not prevent health insurance companies from discriminating? Or provide universal health care? Or not ensure that every veteran has VA access? Cut taxes for 95% of Americans? He said he was going to do all that stuff too. And apparently the majority of the country thinks he will. I hope they're right.

The company is basically staying open but doing no work until they can determine the plan of action. However, because they were forewarned of what may be hitting them in the wallet, they have cut all of the home based workers back to less than half of our typical work load, and this alone has hurt us dearly. Where my checks were avg $475 - $550 weekly, I have only had 4 checks over $300 and most are between $180 - $240 so that is a huge cut.
I asked today if there was any word or decision on re-opening after the holiday break (traditionally they close the week of/before Christmas thru New Year) and the only reply I got was the office staff will be in to do year end inventory and the rest of us will be notified by phone if and when to come back and pick up more work. Then the office manager pulled me aside and said she was really pulling for me to stay on if they cut back staff, but there was a really good chance they were closing up totally since the owner was in Morocco today talking to the suppliers and walking thru the possibility of having our jobs done from there. Yes, it may not come to pass as promised - oh my, a politician not keeping true to a promise during an election?? - but the waiting and the cut backs so far will affect us so badly that it will be too late to recover by the time all is known. |

Just thinking that he could also pass some bills that may help small businesses which may off set the tax plan. I may tend to look at the glass as half full vs. half empty. However, I am pulling for our new president. He has a big job ahead of him. |
