So today was definately a Monday. After a long day at work, I didn't really feel like doing anything at all this evening. (like doing nothing is allowed for moms.. LOL) Well I pull into the driveway at 5:30 and hubby and K are outside playing in the front yard. It's nice to see them having a good time together until I notice that K is still in her "good clothes" (ones she hasn't totally stained yet) and filthy. I don't mean just a little dirt, I mean she had dirt in her ears! So it's time to go inside and start dinner.... where are the potatoes? Oh yeah, I forgot I was supposed to stop and pick some up. So I figured something else out, while cleaning up as much as possible because I just couldn't stand the mess anymore. So I give K her bath and by her bedtime I am super frustrated. I still have a million things to do... my evening jog (that I just started), more house cleaing, etc. Well I take K to her room and sit down to rock her just like every other night except she's not tired tonight..... of course.
So after about 10 minutes, K is laying against me and I shut my eyes and just relax. After all this is a precious moment that we share every night. Then K covers her face with her hands, peeks through her fingers and says "hey - I see you". I did my best and didn't laugh, actually I didn't even let her catch me smiling. Then she start pinching her own nose and saying "bonk". "Hold it in - don't do it or you'll never get her to go to bed" I told myself and somehow managed not to laugh at her out loud. Then I start to hum a lullaby. K turns around and looks at me with her finger to her mouth and whispers "SSSHHHH - be quiet"!!!! She was totally serious, I about died. I had to lay her down and walk out of the room very quickly and burst out laughing. The day was frustrating, but after those few hilariously, precious moments, everything in my world was perfect. And I laughed until I had tears rolling down my cheeks telling hubby about it. So putting K to bed, fixed all the frustrations of my day! |
