As for my daughters the oldest wants to be a Witch Bride (I think) and the middle wants to be Tinkerbell which will be the 3rd year if she gets her way. I think her mom has other plans. We live in Newberry and our neighboorhood has a great turnout for trick or treaters. So we also dress up. I think my wife and I are going to do the Nightmare before Christmas couple, as our yard will become a HAUNTED GRAVEYARD on the 31st!

I think disneyshopping.com has some really cool Nightmare Before Christmas adult costumes! That is my hubby's FAVORITE movie! Believe it or not...he and my daughter are outside right now putting stuff up! Her bday is only 4 days before Halloween so she has always loved getting all ready for it early!

We have one Firestar (from Spiderman and his Amazing Friends) and the other one can't decide between a kitty and Minnie Mouse.

And I too love getting ready for Halloween. I have a giant spider web with a giant spider crawling up the side of my stairs and a small grave yard with a white picket fence in my front yard.

Does anyone on here make costumes? There is no arguing with my son that he wants to be Diego (from Nick Jr.'s "Go Diego Go"). I'm going to go looking for the costume this weekend, but so far all the ones I've seen online look really cheap. Maybe I'm just too snobby with my Halloween costumes, but I know he's gonna want to wear this one over and over again, so I'd like it to be decent. I would do it myself, but I have zero sewing capabilities.

I wish I could help you Sarah. Unfortunately, like I've mentioned before, my sewing capabilities are pretty much non-existant. Have you tried visiting Disney's Web site to see if you could order something?

After taking a look at the link klmorg provided it doesn't look like a homemade costume would be that difficult. Really, the costume is made up of dark blue cargo shorts, a light blue t-shirt, and a kaki vest with the Diego patch on it.

On Ebay there are sellers selling just the vests from Gymboree. They look pretty cute and much more durable than the costume vests. I don't know if they will be affordable to purchase from Ebay or not. You might call to ask if they still have these on the shelves at Gymboree in town.

Our little guy is going to be a lion. I found the CUTEST and WAAAAAAYYYYYYYY too expensive costume (of course, I bought it!) online. My neice is going to be Dorothy and her dog is Toto, so I thought the lion would be perfect. It's the main animal in his nursery theme too, so it works.
Last year he was a teddy bear complete with the big red bow. This year should be even better since he can walk and talk.
I'll try to get some of the money back afterwards by selling the costume on ebay.

What about you mommies? Are any of you wearing costumes?

I feel like I should have some sort of costume just to be in the spirit of things, but it can't be too cumbersome or impractical. So the jurt is still out on that.

Okay...I have to admit I have not dressed up for or celebrated Halloween in any way for about 10 years. My kids have never seemed too interested in it because we usually do the fall festivals at church and we live in a rural area so we don't have any trick or treaters. I am not totally against Halloween, (we do go to the Corn Maze in Newberry every year), I just don't agree with the evil extreme some people go to. So I am going to let my kids dress up if they want to this year...at least to go to our(gainevillemoms) Halloween/Fall costume party this year. I just couldn't stand my 3 year old seeing all your little ones dressed up so cute and saying, "mommy why didn't I get to dress up?". So now I have to start figuring out what to dress her in!!!

And Nate as far as me dressing up...that will be up to my hubby..if he goes for it I will too!!

Karen, don't feel so bad, I have not dressed up in a costume either in a long time. I wouldn't know what to dress myself up as. Boy, would have to think about it.

My boys have a lot of dress-up stuff, so they'll probably come up with something (if we do anything that day).

Last year we had a monkey, pirate, and scooby-doo. I just pulled out some of my 80s gear and crimped my hair Smiler

hmm Well my daughter told me I could borrow one of her tiaras and a magic wound, so I guess I am going to be a princess. And she told my hubby he needed to be a cowboy lol So far he hasn't agreed to it...

I kept asking our daughter what she wanted to dress up as for Halloween since the original plans we had fell thru (we have friends with a son her age and even in street clothes they look like Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm) and she first said a King. I asked 'King of what?' and she gave me the most bewildered look and said 'king of halloween of course' - duh Mommy!! (I said that, not her) With more asking it turns out she wants to be a mermaid like the kind in Dora Saves the Mermaids so she can wear a crown. So now I have this great idea of how to make her costume in my head....but getting it out of there will be the real trick!

The boy we are dressing as a Ghost Hunter since we found a cammo T-shirt in black, grey and white but the designs are ghosts. Also because I watch those shows a lot! I'm going to use the dozens of remotes we have laying around and cover them with kraft paper and foil to make the gadgets and gizmos for him. Funny, last year he was a ghost...now a ghost hunter!
