I had to do some running around yesterday and was shocked to see all the stores ready for Halloween and fall. Costumes are already out! I couldn't believe it!

My family doesn't actually celebrate Halloween, but we do love dressing up in fun (not scary) costumes and doing some trick-or-treating!

My daugter decided she wanted to be Tinkerbell this year, which is PERFECT since her cousin used that costumes a previous year when she was the same age!

What does your child want to be?

We started getting costume catalogues in the mail last week. My 3-year-old keeps wanting to "read those books" and point to the stuff he wants. We may look into a Diego costume, then the baby could be Baby Jaguar.

For parents of more than one, are matching costumes cute or corny?

My son is so looking forward to Halloween! Our mail box is also over flowing w/ the costume catalogs! Each night at dinner we all say what we are thankful for that day. A few days ago my son was thankful that Halloween was "coming soon". My almost two year old said she was just thankful for her feet Smiler. I digress as usual. I think that matching costumes are so cute!!! We are still undecided over here. I will keep you posted as this important decision is made Smiler

Sarah, same theme costumes are too cute. Wink Im going to stick with redhead characters since my daughter has bright red hair. Last year I made her a vintage strawberry shortcake and this year my sisters voted her to be pepples...wihich is great cause im not sure i would have time to make anything else. haha

I also think matching costumes are cute...Last year was my daughter's first year of trick-or-treating, and she dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood, and I was her Grandma...We got so many compliments, and I had a blast taking her around to houses with my mom's cane, a pair of reading glasses, some old clothes, and a grandma wig!
This year, My youngest (who will be pushed in the stroller) will be a mouse, and I'm going to cover the stroller with swiss-cheese-decorated posterboard. It'll be like she's a mouse in the cheese...
We are still undecided as to what our older daughter will be though, as she is still too young to tell us what she wants to be. We'll probably just take her to the store and let her pick out a costume...any suggestions???

We're right there with you. My boys love to dress up in their play clothes almost every day. If we do trick or treat this year, they'll probably be creative with what they have in their box. A superhero-pirate? Or perhaps a snorkeling Scooby-doo?

I just don't know what to do. My 3 year old changes her mind constantly on what she wants to dress up as. One minute its a vampire and the next it is a kitty cat. But we have so many costumes already. For Christmas my mom got her a ton of dress up clothes. She has tinker bell, Barbie, Snow White, a gator cheerleader outfit, tons of tutus, and I picked up a unicorn costume for 50 cents at a garage sale so economically it would be wise to just use something we have already but talking her into that is another thing.

I want to dress him up as a pumpkin since that's what I call him all the time. I got him a onesie at Baby Gap with a pumpkin on it too and it's adorable! My husband couldn't believe I paid $12.50 for on onesie but he's my little pumpkin! I'll keep it forever!

I already bought my son's halloween costume! I got too excited. (this is his first halloween, and it's my brother's birthday so it's always a big deal around my house). He's going to be Yoda (complete with a hat with the ears!). I love it!

G wants to be a Gator football player. That's all he talks about these days. We'll be standing at the store or in the pool and he'll just start shouting "Go Gators"! Thank goodness we moved here, you should have seen the looks we got in Indiana when he'd do that Razzer

J wants to be either a cheerleader or a pokemon character. I'm trying to steer her towards the cheerleader, because she already has everything she needs for that. And of course it would compliment her brother's outfit perfectly.

Halloween is my hubby's FAVORITE holiday. He really likes to do it up! We have done the themed costumes before...one year one was Lilo and one was Stitch...actually I think those are the only ones we have done that matched....haha. Caeli's bday is only a few days before so now that she is older it's even more fun!
Oh and a mom from Cafemom made a really good post about the history of Halloween...I knew a bunch of it already but it is pretty cool info...thought I'd share Smiler

Well I made a big mistake tonight. In my first post, I said my daughter decided to be Tinkerbell which was awesome because her cousin used that costume when she was about my daughter's age and still has it!

But tonight, while in Target, I made the mistake of taking my daughter over to the costumes. (I just wanted to look!) Well, she saw the Bell costume and fell in love with it. I just had to get it for her. Oh well... Smiler At least I know she will get a lot of use out of it since she loves to dress up every day!

I also caved, Stacy, as I had another thing in mind. In Wal-Mart tonight, my daughter spotted the Cinderella dress, and I couldn't resist. When we got home, she tried it on, and LOVED it-she just kept spinning around, singing "la, la, la" Smiler. I also put the tiara from my wedding on her head, and I'm going to let her use that instead of one of those cheap-looking crown toys that break easily. She's gonna have a great time!

OK so we have been watching the "Classic" Disney movies lately and for about 2 months my youngest has got it set in his mind the wants to be a, "Dumbo" elephant. But he doesn't want the big eared Dumbo he just wants a regular ole elephant and he wants to call it a dumbo elephant. So anyway we went to Weecycle and they got his costume. 10 dollars! Score! As for my daughters the oldest wants to be a Witch Bride (I think) and the middle wants to be Tinkerbell which will be the 3rd year if she gets her way. I think her mom has other plans. We live in Newberry and our neighboorhood has a great turnout for trick or treaters. So we also dress up. I think my wife and I are going to do the Nightmare before Christmas couple, as our yard will become a HAUNTED GRAVEYARD on the 31st!
