It seems like T-ball and soccer are the norm for most kids who want to play sports, but watching the Olympics has opened my eyes to all the wonderful sports out there: fencing, swimming, gymnastics.

Apparently some of the places around town where kids can participate in these activities are seeing a rise in interest. Read the story in today's Sun here.

Have your kids shown an interest in any of these sports? Do you think you'll sign them up?

I would really like to get my daughter in some type of sport, but she is only 2. I know there is a place around town where she can join a gymnastics class, but I wasn't sure if there were any other options for children so young. Any suggestions?

I tried to get my daughter into fencing a couple of years ago, but I couldn't pique her interest.

Then last week, my daughter seemingly out of the blue said she wanted to try fencing. I'm thrilled.

I think they have classes for very little ones as well.

The little ones can do gymnastics. It's really more bouncing and tumbling -- which I think would be so much fun. Try Sun Country, I know they offer it for younger children.

I have heard about this program, Soccer Tots (link below). We haven't used it, so I don't know anything else about it. The YMCA has swim classes for kids that young. http://www.soccertotsgainesville.com/
