I have a couple of questions for anyone who might know the answers:

Is there a charge/dues in order to join the group?

What kinds of things have your girls done in girl scouts? Did they enjoy themselves?

I honestly must say that I'm uncertain about Girl Scouts. I was in it myself through Elementary School, but all I remember is sitting around complaining about how we would much rather be in Boy Scouts. It didn't seem like we ever did much but make crafts. Anyone who has more detailed information on what the Girl Scouts do at the meetings would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Honestly, I think it all depends on the troop you're in and who the leader is. My mom was my troop leader, and we did all kinds of stuff. There were camping trips, crafts, cooking lessons, a sleepover at the mall, fundraisers, trips to St. Augustine and Savannah ... and there's a ton of stuff I'm not even thinking of.

Of course, this was all 15 years ago. I'm sure if you find the right group, it could be a lot of fun. I'm not sure on dues/membership. Does anyone with an older daughter know?

I am the leader for my daughter's Daisy troop. It costs $10 for sign up and any dues are decided by the troop.
Since I get to be the leader for my daughter's girl scout troop, I like to make things as low cost as possible, and have as much fun with the girls as I can.
We will learning all about the girl scout laws in Daisys through songs, games, crafts and other fun activities.
I plan to teach the GS promise through sign language to the girls.
For our troop, I plan to emphasize leadership skills, cooperation, culture/racial diversity, etc. All the things the girls will need as a grown woman in real life. I plan to be this for as long as my daughter keeps an interest in it.

The best thing I can advise is to go the round up night and talk with the leader that your daughter will be with. She should be able to answer all the questions you have about the troop she would be in.
