Today, while talking to the president of the Tower 24 Community center, she brought up something that gave me a great idea!
I'm seriously thinking to doing a Kids-Scrapbook Workshop. Kids from ages 6-16 y/o. Maybe kids from 3-5 as another workshop. Just teaching the simplicity of crafting with photos. Picking themes, finding the right photos and emblishes, etc..etc.. I have taught my grandneice, who is turning 4 in October how to scrapbook. she picked it up so quickly and enjoys doing it. Everytime she talks to me on the phone she always asked me when the next time we were going to work on her scrapbook. We have so far done two with up to 3-4 different themes. Anyhow... If I was to do it, it won't be till January since I do need to find a place to do it and I don't think I'm going to charge anything, since the cost of a scrapbook, and all its paper/emblishes, etc..etc..is already expensive. I may do a small registration fee. But nothing to faint over. Just curious, how many mom's here would think your kids enjoy doing this workshop? Maybe once they see you do it (if you are), they too would want to do it. |

My daughter would love this! She's already got a scrapbook going that her grandmother started with her.

Great idea! My son would really like this as well! I would even volunteer to host a kids scrapbooking party for the 3-5 year old age group. Or, I wonder if there is a local venue that would allow us to use their space-the library perhaps? We like to make cards too. Possibly a Holiday Card making party? We could take away a few for mailing to relatives

I'm working on the libraries, but I hear there is like a six week waiting list. But that is ok, cuz I was thinking of waiting till after the holidays to do it anyhow.
It would be one of the good themes kids could work on. Hollowween, thanksgiving, xmas, birthdays, family event. Something they can take pictures of and use as part of their themes. I'll make some calls. I was hoping that the Pink Fleminigo will go with it but right now it seems their phone number is disconnected. So I might stop by over there and ask them if they still around. I might also ask Michaels to see what they think. they have so many cool things for scrapbooks (the only bad part is they are expensive comparing to walmart, Joanns and Pink Flemingo.). I'm making some call the next few days and let you all know. I like to see a minimum of 10 kids in each workshop. And I would like to see how many of the Gainesville Mom's kids be involve as well. |

I just talked to a CREATIVE MEMORIES consultant that does Adult workshops at her home. She is willing to do one for us every 4th Saturday at her home (in Melrose) and it most likely will not cost anything.
However, she is willing to help teach the mom's how to do a great scrapbook and prepare for the Kids workshop which will be here in town after the holidays. She is sending all information to me and I will post them here. She needs to know by this Tuesday, now many mom's would be interested in this workshop. It will start this month (last Saturday) of the month. We can carpool to her place if needed. If we have at least 10 (she said she can take more) then that will be well worth it and we can have fun knowing what to do) and then be ready to do one for the kids afterwards. If you are intereseted, please RSVP here or PM me. I will post her info later on today after she sends it to me. Thanks! |

2-year-old daughter |
I wish my daughter was a bit older, because that sounds like a lot of fun!! My daughter loves art, but I just don't think she would be able to do that quite yet
